Shiny, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?

As a designer, I simultaneously navigate the world of visual communication design while also crafting products with original designs under my own name. This entire journey began with a single word: exploration.

My education in industrial design provided me with the opportunity to explore various areas in which a designer can specialize, understanding what doesn’t appeal to me and also learning valuable lessons from each one. One day, while preparing for a friend’s celebration, the idea struck me to adapt something I had come across on Pinterest, which happened to be trending at the time: photo props. I brought them to the event, and soon other guests requested the same for their occasions. Even my family members began placing “orders”. So, in a way, you could say it all started with a simple detail for a birthday.

As I continued to explore, I recognized the need to give a name to this. That’s how “Je Suis Brillant” was born, translating to “I am Shiny” in English. My focus expanded into crafting personalized products for events, and I also began collaborating with clients, designing logos.

Eight years later, after obtaining a master’s degree in visual communication, “Je Suis Brillant” transformed into “Shiny Abbott” — a project centered around fun products with original designs, while also involving collaboration with clients and brands, assisting them with their visual identities, branding, and similars.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Shiny Abbott. I am a Visual Designer and artist with a background in an Industrial Design bachelor’s degree, a Masters in Visual Communication Design, and a whole heart and mind dedicated to creating and designing beautiful things for this world.

I perceive my project, Shiny Abbott, as a dazzling creative realm where imagination, design, and my essence converge.

It’s divided into 2 parts: First, I specialize in creating original tangible products. On this side, my creative scope is quite wide, spanning from pop sockets and bandanas to phone cases, paper goods, and various types of drinkware. I love infusing a bit of sparkle, a touch of pink, and a lot of heart into my creations. The aim? To spread positivity, celebrate life’s small joys, and embrace the magical moments of love and fun that surround us.

Then, there’s the second part – working with brands and clients to help them define their visual identities, branding, and similar needs. I enjoy getting to know brands and clients, understanding their ideas, and translating them into something that stands out. Exploring their unique perspectives is like solving a puzzle to create a cohesive visual identity.

What truly fills me with pride is witnessing the joy I bring to every individual who makes a purchase or to the clients I have the pleasure of collaborating with. It keeps me moving forward.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

In essence, my mission is to leave a trail of love and happiness through my designs, while also assisting others in achieving their creative aspirations. I’m deeply passionate about my work. Whether it’s creating unique products or engaging in collaborative projects, my goal is to spread joy and celebrate the beauty found in life’s simple pleasures. It’s my way of sharing positivity, honoring life’s small joys, and cherishing the enchanting moments of love and fun that embrace us.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

Witnessing the joy that individuals experience upon receiving a product from me is undeniably one of the most rewarding aspects of being an artist or creative. The genuine excitement that my creations inspire make all the artistic effort truly worthwhile. But you know what is rewarding too? Given my primary focus in the area of visual design communication, I find immense satisfaction in assisting brands and clients in bringing their unique visions to life and I genuinely love every step of the process. Taking their concepts and ideas, and turning them into captivating visual identities, branding, and designs that truly “dances with their heart”. This collaborative aspect not only fuels my creative energy but also gives me the chance to play a part in the achievements of others. It’s a remarkable journey of shared successes that continues to inspire me.
