We were lucky to catch up with Shika Nicole recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shika, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Imagine a young single mother 18 years ago, juggling the responsibilities of parenthood with the daunting task of building a business from scratch. Eight years ago, I embarked on a risky journey as a female entrepreneur in a competitive market, driven by the necessity to provide for my son amid scarce support. Through sheer determination and relentless effort, I not only kept my business afloat but also managed to thrive. However, life had more surprises in store for me. Feeling the need for a change and inspired by my own fitness journey, I courageously pivoted my career path towards the realm of wellness and fitness. This decision was fueled by my passion for health and the desire to lead by example for my son. Despite the uncertainties, the leap of faith paid off 3 times . As a single parent and 2 time entrepreneur. Today, I stand as a beacon of resilience and empowerment, having successfully carved out a new fulfilling path that not only transformed my own life but continues to inspire others around me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Once struggling with body dysmorphia and the challenges of being underweight, I felt weak and disconnected from my own strength. My journey into fitness began as a personal mission to gain weight and build muscle, reclaiming control over my body. Through dedication and a natural approach to training, I discovered the transformative power of strength training, not just for physical health but for mental well-being. This experience ignited a passion in me to help other women overcome similar struggles, guiding them to become the best version of themselves in the gym. What sets me apart from other trainers is my deep empathy and firsthand understanding of body image issues, coupled with my commitment to achieving sustainable, natural results. I offer a unique blend of emotional support and expert fitness guidance, empowering women to embrace their bodies and their strength.
I would be most proud of the profound impact I have on my clients’ lives, beyond just physical transformation. Watching women grow in confidence as they achieve goals they once thought impossible brings her immense satisfaction. I take pride in knowing that my guidance has helped them not only become stronger and healthier but also more empowered and self-assured in every aspect of their lives. The moments when clients share how their newfound strength has spilled over into their careers, relationships, and self-esteem are the true markers of her success. My proudest when I sees my clients embrace their power, realizing they are capable of far more than they ever imagined.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My journey as a women’s fitness coach is a testament to resilience, marked by overcoming personal challenges and navigating the ups and downs of my own fitness journey. From battling self-doubt and body image issues to enduring setbacks and plateaus, I have faced every obstacle with determination and grit. My path has not been a straight line, but rather a series of trials that tested her commitment and fueled my growth. Through it all, I have remained steadfast in my mission to empower others, using my struggles as a source of strength and inspiration. My resilience shines through in my unwavering dedication to my clients, my ability to adapt and persevere, and my commitment to fostering a community of strong, confident women who support and uplift one another.

Early in my career, I believed that success was defined by pushing myself and my clients to their limits, adhering to the “no pain, no gain” mentality. I thought that only through intense, grueling workouts could real progress be made. However, after experiencing burnout myself—where exhaustion led to injury and setbacks, I realized this approach was unsustainable and even harmful. The lesson I had to unlearn was that more isn’t always better; true success comes from balance. I began to value rest, recovery, and listening to my body, understanding that long-term progress is built on a foundation of health, not just hard work. This shift not only transformed my own well-being but also allowed me to create more effective and compassionate training programs for my clients, focusing on sustainable growth and overall wellness.
