We recently connected with Sheyda Nabaee and have shared our conversation below.
Sheyda, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Since I was a young girl, I’ve had an insatiable passion for the arts – theatre, singing, drawing, painting, and creative expression. My imagination ran wild with dreams of performing on stage, bringing characters to life, and creating something from nothing. However, as I grew older, I began to suppress these artistic aspirations, prioritizing math and physics in school. This led me down a path of becoming an Interior Designer and later an architect specializing in sustainable design which i loved doing. While I excelled in my career, working on projects that combined creativity and technical skills, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing.
As the years passed, the corporate world’s demands and expectations slowly suffocated my artistic soul. I felt like a part of me was dying, and I knew I needed to make a change. So, I took a leap of faith, giving myself three months to reconnect with my pre-designer self and explore my long-dormant passions. Through soul-searching and research, I rediscovered my love for the performing arts and realized that acting was my true calling.
One day, I made the bold decision to leave my architecture job and pursue acting full-time. It was both exhilarating and terrifying, but I knew it was the right choice. As I began to embrace my artistic side once again, I felt a sense of liberation and joy that I had never experienced before. I finally felt like myself, unapologetically and authentically.
I’m thrilled to have taken this journey, and I’m grateful for the courage to stay true to myself. I’ve learned that it’s never too late to rediscover your passions and pursue your dreams, even if it means taking a risk.
Ever since making the transition, I’ve had the privilege of acting in numerous films, playing a wide range of intriguing roles that have challenged me and allowed me to grow as an artist. From playing a lead role in a romantic drama to portraying two opposite characters in a comedy, each project has been a unique opportunity to explore different aspects of myself and bring new characters to life. I’m grateful for the journey and excited for what’s to come!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As an actress, I’m passionate about breathing life into characters on the big screen. I got into acting through a journey of self-discovery, realizing that my creative soul was yearning for a more artistic expression. I began by taking acting classes, workshops, and immersing myself in the craft. I was determined to learn and grow, and soon I started landing roles in various film projects.
I’m deeply inspired by true stories and inspirational tales that captivate audiences and spark positive change. I believe that movies have the power to transform lives, fostering empathy, understanding, and personal growth.
What sets me apart is my unique blend of creativity, empathy, and attention to detail, honed from my architectural background and nurtured by my vivid childhood imagination. This combination enables me to approach characters with a distinct perspective and nuance, fully immersing myself in their world and emotions.
I’m also grateful for the unwavering support of my family, who have been my rock throughout this journey. We’re incredibly close, and their encouragement and belief in me has been a constant source of strength and inspiration. From celebrating my triumphs to lifting me up during challenging times, they’ve been instrumental in helping me stay focused and committed to my passion. I’m so thankful to have them in my life.
I’m committed to creating meaningful work that resonates with audiences, leveraging the power of storytelling to inspire, heal, and connect us. I’m grateful for the support and enthusiasm of my family and fans, and I hope to continue making you proud with my future projects. Thank you for joining me on this journey!

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
By placing art and creativity at the heart of our society, we can harness their transformative power to build a more vibrant and inspired world. By acknowledging the profound impact of art on our emotional, social, and economic well-being, we can create a world where creativity is celebrated, supported, and valued as a vital part of our human experience.
Providing resources and funding is also essential, such as grants, scholarships, and affordable spaces for creatives to work and showcase their art. This support enables them to focus on their craft, experiment with new ideas, and share their talents with the world.
Supporting creatives is more important than ever these days because a thriving creative ecosystem has a profound impact on mental health. Creativity has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, while also promoting self-expression, self-esteem, and emotional resilience. By supporting artists and creatives, we can also promote mental well-being and foster a more compassionate and empathetic society.
Additionally, the rise of AI and technology has transformed the creative landscape, which raises important questions about authorship, ownership, and the role of human creativity in an increasingly automated world. By supporting artists and creatives, we can ensure that the benefits of technological progress are shared equitably and that the value of human creativity is cherished and celebrated.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
As an artist, there’s no greater joy than seeing my ideas take shape and touching the lives of others. Knowing that my creativity has resonated with someone, inspired them, or brought them joy is the most incredible feeling. It’s a reminder that our art is a powerful tool for connection and transformation. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my vision and make a positive impact on the world around me.
But another rewarding aspect of being an artist is the personal journey it takes me on. This path has been the most challenging thing I’ve ever done, pushing me to my limits and forcing me to confront my insecurities and doubts. Yet, it’s also a journey that allows me to live life fully, to explore and experiment with all that I have to offer. It’s a journey of self-discovery, of growth, and of transformation. It’s a journey that makes me feel seen, heard, and understood.
