Alright, Sherrise thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I enjoy hosting parties and get togethers for my family and friends. Making a charcuterie board was always my preferred thing to curate for these occasions. My friends and family encouraged me very often to sell my boards because they enjoyed them so very much. When Covid reared its head and it became harder to bring our loved ones together, I decided to create Sapphire Lagoon Charcuterie and promote individual items such as Charcuterie cones and jars, in order to help bring people together safely. I realized that our community was suffering just as my family was from a lack of human interaction.
Sherrise, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Born in September, my birth stone is the Sapphire gemstone. When I created Sapphire Lagoon Charcuterie, it was important to me that I had a piece of myself in my company name. I was also born and raised in Jamaica and I grew up around water. Lagoons are one of the most beautiful bodies of water and I remember as a child visiting the Blue Lagoon in Port Antonio, Jamaica. To make my name unique, I put the two most important parts of myself together to create Sapphire Lagoon.
This journey unveiled a deep passion for curating delicious displays for an exotic experience. Our charcuterie tables, boards and boxes are the essence of easy entertaining. Elegantly stacked with cured meats, cheeses, crackers, fruits, nuts, sweet treats and more.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Our best source of new clientele is “word of mouth”. Every interaction in my community or on social media, whether with other vendors, product inquiries, every comment, every content like or share is a potential customer and we pride ourselves on always being authentic, respectful and honest. We are easy to work with and very flexible within reason. We also put a lot of thought in our work and the feedback we have received is humbling. We had a client tell us recently how much love they could tell was put into a simple plate order. We strive to always put out our best in every single order we curate and to always provide the best experience. We always want our customers to feel special and satisfied.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Great customer service is what has helped us build our brand. We are very big on offering the best customer experience. We strive to leave our clients happy and wowed. We go above and beyond where possible and each product we put out will show our passion for bringing joy to the individuals we happily serve.
