We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sherrie Robinson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sherrie , thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
For me getting married was an ultimate goal, so when I met my ex I was head over hills for him. Having grown up in a Christian home I was taught the value of commitment and longevity. After the nuptials however everything went downhill quickly and the long awaited love ended abruptly leaving me with heartache and despair. However during this time I was greatly inspired and motivated to write which became very therapeutic for me. In June 2022 I self published my book Beauty For Ashes Here’s the actual truth about love it’s not a fairytale currently on Amazon.
Sherrie , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m born and raised in Chicago, IL. I grew up with both my parents blue collar workers. I’m first generation to have graduated from college with my Bachelor’s degree. I’m like many women who waited for love and unfortunately due to infidelity it ended abruptly. However during the whole process writing became an outlet I’ve been able to use to help me find my purpose in life. My first self published book as an author Beauty For Ashes Here’s the actual truth about love it’s not a fairytale, gives hope to the reader to continue to find the love the you are deserving of in life.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I feel the most important thing is impact. Being a creative is wonderful but being able to touch the lives of others through my words has meant the world to me. I’m continually inspired by others as well.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Even though I was going through heartache and betrayal I found inspiration from my pet Zoe. I knew I couldn’t give up on life because she depends on me and she has been one of my greatest motivation to keep forging ahead.
