We were lucky to catch up with Sherri Cobb recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sherri, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I am actively building my legacy as a fine artist and philanthropist with a deep commitment to capturing the essence of cultural heritage and the human experience through my dynamic and powerful art. Rooted in abstract expressionism, my paintings blend celestial and physical elements to create a unique visual language that reflects both the divine and the human spirit. While I am already devoted to honoring Native American history, my vision extends further—to establish a significant philanthropic endeavor in the coming years focused on supporting Indigenous communities, particularly women and children. My goal is to leave behind not just a body of art, but a lasting impact on cultural preservation and social equity. I hope that my growing passion for justice will inspire future generations.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My artistic journey ignited at the age of six, sparked by private oil painting lessons with my neighbor, who opened my eyes to the mysteries of color, perspective, shadow, atmosphere, and light. From that young age, I felt an undeniable connection to art—an electric force that pulled me into its depths and set me on the path I walk today. Over the years, I’ve traversed various artistic disciplines, but it was abstract expressionism that truly spoke to my soul. This style, with its boundless freedom to convey powerful emotions and complex ideas through dynamic, non-representational forms, became the perfect medium for my vision—a language where the unseen becomes tangible, and the canvas becomes a stage for both the celestial and the physical to collide.
What sets my work apart is the physicality I bring to the process. I have a background in bodybuilding and bio mechanics, which means that my approach to painting is not just a mental or emotional experience but also a profoundly physical one. Every stroke of the brush is infused with the energy and discipline that comes from my physical training. This combination of strength and creativity has become the cornerstone of my brand.
I have been fortunate to work with a diverse range of clients, from private collectors and celebrities to foundations and institutions that are drawn to the depth and power of my work. Each client appreciates not only the aesthetic value of my pieces but also the cultural and social significance embedded within them.
One of the things I am most proud of is how my art has allowed me to connect with and uplift various communities, particularly through my latest project underway that honor Native American history and my support of indigenous causes. I’m passionate about using my art to make a difference, and I’m proud that my work can contribute to cultural preservation and social equity.
My brand is deeply ingrained in the idea that art is not just a visual experience but a physical one as well. My work reflects a fusion of body, mind spirit, where every piece is created with the same discipline and energy I bring to my physical training. My followers and fans should know that my art is more than just aesthetics- It’s about telling stories, capturing emotions, and inspiring others to see the connection between physical strength and creative expression. My ultimate goal is to leave a lasting impact beyond the canvas, contributing to a broader cultural conversation.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One aspect of my journey that may seem surprising to some folks is my transition back to my education and art after spending many years working full time in the tech industry. I was part of one of the pioneering companies that provided internet service to the public, which took me out of the creative world for about a decade. Despite this lengthy hiatus from art, I remained committed to my passion. When I eventually returned to painting, I brought with me the skills and discipline I honed in tech, such as problem-solving and strategic thinking. This period away from my art didn’t diminish my passion; instead it reinforced my resolve. Re-entering the art world, I faced new challenges, but my experiences in tech equipped me with a unique perspective and renewed dedication. This journey demonstrates my resilience in adapting to different fields while maintaining a steadfast commitment to my creative vision.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I had to unlearn to achieve greater success in my art career was the idea that my diverse experiences in tech, bodybuilding, and caregiving were separate from my creative work. For 15 years, I devoted myself to caring for my mother who suffered from Alzheimer’s and dementia. This period taught me resilience and empathy, qualities that I initially saw as distinct from my art. I also compartmentalized my experiences in tech and bodybuilding, thinking they didn’t necessarily intersect with my creative pursuits. However, I’ve come to realize that integrating the discipline and problem-solving skills from all the above actually enriches my artistic process. Embracing how these experiences enhance rather than detract from my creativity has allowed me to create a more cohesive and impactful body of work. Recognizing the connections between these varied aspects of my life has enable me to leverage all parts of my background to fuel innovation and success in my career.
