Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sherman Jackson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Sherman thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How’s you first get into your field – what was your first job in this field?
I started my career as a trainer in 2015 at planet fitness. I wanted to work there because I just wanted to get the experience as a trainer and I thought a basic gym like that would be good starting off. Starting off I was a little nervous because I had never trained anyone before but one of my favorite quotes is repetition is the father of learning so I looked at it like the more people I’ll become a better trainer & that mindset worked for me.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
So I got into the fitness industry because I used to be overweight myself. Growing up I never played sports I didn’t eat healthy and wasn’t really that active. Honestly when I was in school gym class was my least favorite class. So once I turned 20 I looked in the mirror and didn’t like what I seen. The mirror doesn’t lie it always shows you the truth so I decided I need to do something to better myself. So that year (2011) is when I started working out
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Not just my field but in general. Anything you do never give up. We all have a Good given ability so whatever yours is go after it. Put everything into your passion.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Yes personal training is the only job I ever cared about. I have met some amazing people doing this.
