We recently connected with Sherelle Reed and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sherelle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
In June of 2021 I decided to retire from Corporate America as a Corporate Instructor to become a full-time entrepreneur! I have always had a love for motivating others to become their best. As a young girl I was the neighborhood peace maker. I would mediate disagreements between my friends and encourage to consider different perspectives to things. As I grew older, I took the same interest into my family structure. I began my career in Corporate America specializing in Customer Service as an instructor. I was responsible for training new hire associates who were beginning their careers in the call center. In this role I had the awesome opportunity to influences the trajectory of the associates’ careers by teaching them how to be successful in their new roles and in the company as a whole. I motivated them to become the best associates they can be.
I executed my love for empowering, educating and encouraging others both inside and outside of the office. In my personal life I launched a non-profit organization called Find Your Resilience Inc that empowers females to Learn from the Past, Live Today and Pursue Purpose. Through the organizations’ programming I have been able to impact the lives of many women and girls. I have become a certified Life Coach and Speaker. I also launched a customization business called Creative Couture Boutique. Through this business I am able to make customers’ visions become reality by creating customed shirts and novelties for them. Through this business I have launched my own comfort wear line called FEARLESS…..”Where there’s a message in the merch”. This business was birthed during the pandemic, and it provides comfort clothing that serves as a reminder that we can still live life FEARLESSLY in the face of our adversity.
I worked in Corporate America for 17 years, I traveled extensively for my company, and I LOVED IT! I felt that I was at a crossroad, and I decided to take a risk and leave my job to become a fulltime entrepreneur. BE CLEAR that I work harder now than I have ever worked. But this work fulfills me in ways I never imagined. I was very comfortable and content with my corporate job. I took the “leap of Faith” of turning my part time ventures into my full-time career. It has not been easy for me at all, but it was well worth the risk!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am very grateful that I have the opportunity to impact the lives of others for the better!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I have dealt with much adversity in my life. I was raised by my grandparents, and I grew up feeling abandoned and inadequate as a result of not living with either of my parents. Despite my low self-esteem, I still continued my education. I became pregnant in college, abandoned by the father and gave birth to a disabled child (my 1st LOVE). Being a single mother to a disabled child was hard as I had to learn to navigate all of his surgeries, therapies and limitations. IT WAS HARD FOR ME! Social workers tried to encourage me to relinquish my parental rights and give my son to the state of Louisiana. My answer was easy……ABSOLUTELY NO!!!
Once my son’s condition was stabilized, I went on to continue my education and attained my degree. I also got married and had 2 more children.
My adversity could have wiped me out, but my RESILIENCY kept me moving forward in the face of that same adversity.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
All of my life I have been to do my best and give my best. This caused me to focus primarily on me. As I progressed in my career, I realized that customer service is most important because it puts my focus on my customers and their experience. I learned that no matter how valuable, and well planned my services are, my success comes by being focused on how my customers experience what I have to offer! I continue to provide quality products and services, but they are all created with a primary focus on how they will be received.
