We recently connected with Sherday Fallen and have shared our conversation below.
Sherday, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
In 2018 I started my fitness journey and at the time I was working in healthcare and finding my niche as a stylist. I lost over 30lbs and I was surrounded by a great community that encouraged me to get my personal training license. The thing is I did not know what to do with it, therefore I started my own business in 2020 and started blogging about the journey until COVID hit. As a new business owner and a career, I was fresh and I was not sure how to scale the business. It failed but I did not want it to stay as a failure because I knew the passion I had for the industry and how I wanted to change the stereotypes, especially what social media has done to the industry. All through COVID until July 2022 I had to figure out through trial and error, especially what I wanted to offer in a demographic area that did not see the vision I have for fitness. I have to work harder and I knew that but now I have a mentor, I am part of a gym that supports the vision, and I am able to do my business as I want it. I prayed so hard on this because of the inconsistency I was providing with different locations, different, services, etc. I know I confused my audience and lost trust. It feels good to have consistency and a community and it brings more confidence to my business plan for Drip Fitness.
Building on business while pursuing a career as a hairstylist helped me balance my life more. I did not know what type of schedule to provide for either hair or fitness clients and I am big on consistency especially when someone is paying. Once I found consistency in a gym I call home it made my career as a stylist much better. I have learned you can have and do whatever you want but build the foundation. Building the foundation may take time, and it may take years, shoot it took me 2 years going on 3 years to finalize what I can offer, who my audience is, and more.
I am here to show you that failure is not the end, you do not have to give up on your hobby or passion because the first business plan did not work. So many people told me to let it go and in my heart, I just couldn’t now I am happy with good positive people around that want to see me win and I am here to help them win too.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Back in 2014, I graduated from Cosmetology school while living in my hometown Rochester, NY. I was only 22 years old and about to be a mother of two under two. I decided to go into the healthcare field soon after my graduation. Working the healthcare and figuring out my niche in the hair industry produce the outcome of where I am today. Now let’s fast forward to 2016 moving to central Texas. I was pursuing my healthcare career becoming a nurse when I realize the weight was picking up. 2018 is when my life took a turn in a positive way. I found a gym that I loved and lost over 30lbs. The encouragement from the community and seeing how people come together had me pursue a career I did not know was in God’s plan for me. 2020 I received my personal training certificate and started my fitness business Drip Fitness. A few months later I finally finalized my hair business Pretti Healthy. Deciding to take the entrepreneurial route and working on my success with the industries I have a passion for I knew I could work hard and scale it. I still work a normal job but I put more hours into my business. I had no mentors nor did I truly have support. I had people I can talk to about my ideas but it was not resourceful as I thought it would be. As a business owner, you have to think as if this is all you have and you are all you got. You can sell a dream to anyone but if you do not believe in it yourself all it will ever be is a thought. No one talks about the late-night struggles, your mental health, or a failed plan. Now that I have built my business with a foundation it is time to reach out for endorsements, sponsors, etc. Drip Fitness has longevity of goals and the same with Pretti Healthy. As I build Drip Fitness and Pretti Healthy’s community and being involved within my community the goals will be met and they will be successful. Drip Fitness will be successful because the vision I have is different than most fitness industries in my community. Pretty Healthy will be successful for the reason I am providing products and services that other stylists do not have. Even if my community has certain products and services I am sure my customer service and personality are sellers itself.
Drip Fitness at this moment is offering Booty Gainz camp, consultations that include the discussion of fitness, nutrition, and mental health. Also, building out personal and group training services as well. As stated before we have our foundation of what we are but we will have so much more to offer once these specific services are established and have built the community we are wanting.
Pretti Healthy at this moment offers but is not limited to extension services, keratin treatments, color services, crochet, and more. Doing hair for 8 years and finding my niche, the foundation has set and we are working on scaling our hair extensions products. We have other goals that will work for our community, but you’ll need to stay tapped in with us to see.
I can say running a business is not easy but when you are doing something you love it comes effortlessly. Stay grounded and don’t give up. Remember sometimes things will not work, don’t give up, find another way,

Have you ever had to pivot?
As cliche as it is COVID, had all of us take a pivot in life, careers, and business. The fitness industry in general was a change for me. I was working out to be healthy and feeling better but God decided that I make it a hobby. If someone asked me what my plan was in life it was to be an aesthetician nurse, having my cosmetology license and healthcare I was determined and set goals for that industry. I went to a free 30-day trial at a gym and from there the pivot made a turn and fitness became a lifestyle that I wanted to help others with especially having a healthcare background. All I needed was my certificate and I self-taught, took the exam, and passed at the end of 2019. 2020 Drip Fitness was DBA to get my services started. I serviced my clients out of my friend’s garage and built it from there until COVID came. During COVID I was not sure what to do. I was not social media savvy, nor did I know what sales and marketing were for my business. Instead of pushing my business super hard, I studied social media and algorithms. The world opened back up and I searched and changed gyms many times until August 2022 the gym I am at now took me in. 2020 was a year of learning social media, sales and marketing, etc. 2021 was finding my niche within the fitness industry. 2022 we are here to execute our business plan. We know what we would do if there was a lockdown again, we are prepared for changes in case of a location change, and we are looking to grow our community within our community. We are here to show the authentic changes and growth a fitness business goes through. I am not here to show the glitz and glams but to show if you keep pushing even with pivots and turns you can do it. DO NOT give up!!!
Any advice for managing a team?
Managing a team can be difficult but with proper systems, it can be smooth sailing. Before I learned about systems I had a difficult time hiring a team. I wondered if was it me asking for too much with under-delivering services, or if was I not explaining the job properly or what. There are systems I have learned from taking a 4-hour webinar with Connie S. Falls that it was no one’s fault but mine because I did not have systems in play. Once you find the system that works well for your team it is smooth sailing. The system will provide job descriptions, what to expect, add tasks, etc. As business owners, we can delegate and provide the information for our team but when things are planned out formally it saves time and frustration. I went through hundreds of dollars hiring and I thought this whole time it was them when it was me not providing proper systems and plans. The main advice for every business owner, have a system is place. Trainual is a great system. This is the only one I am aware of due to the course I took and it works well. The people Connie S. Falls have helped with this system their businesses is doing well.
