We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sheneille Gayle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sheneille, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
My brand, WebGleam does not focus on catering to just one of our clients’ needs, but we try our best to offer most if not all of the services that they will require to launch their business, put it on the market, and streamline their operations. Our goal is to be the all-in-one solution to meet our clients’ most common needs, all at an extremely affordable price. Through this, we provide a range of services such as web development, testing, audio editing and advertisements, data entry and analysis, content writing, and graphic design. Practically all an individual or business needs to create a brand for themselves and get themselves on the digital landscape. Most importantly, we work very closely with our clients to ensure that they are 100% satisfied with any service that we provide, and we even aim to exceed their expectations. So, whether you are a business team, or individual, WebGleam is your one stop shop.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Well my name is Sheneille Gayle, and I am a professional web developer, audio editor, software developer, and certified accessibility tester by the DHS. I am also the founder and CEO of WebGleam [webgleam.net]. From a very young age, I was always interested in technology, and I would usually experiment and try out new things. But even though I had developed a passion for technology and knew that I wanted to work in that industry, I could not decide on which field I wanted to enter into. I even remember in high school I swore that I would never be a programmer because it seems too challenging. But look at where I am today. Through a rollercoaster of various situations, experiences, and collaborations, I ended up becoming a master of many trades in the tech industry. Through self learning, university, certification, and collaborations with other professionals, I was able to develop the knowledge and skills to provide services in the fields that I specialize in. Through my company, WebGleam, we provide a wide array of services, including web development testing, audio editing and advertisements, content writing, data entry and analysis, and graphic design. We make it easier for our clients, because they can find most of the services that they need to build their brand, digital presence, and streamline their operations, all in one place and at very affordable prices. Not to mention the high-quality of our services. WebGleam is a team of professionals that work very hard to ensure that we not only meet your needs and expectations, but we exceed them. We always go over and above for our clients, and we have a trail of satisfied clients to testify to that. Overall, we provide digital solutions that are beautiful, engaging, comprehensive, functional, and most importantly, accessible to all. I also code and develop software applications, as well as provide private tutoring for persons in the blind and visually impaired community to help them with their devices, but those services are not listed on the website.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Well, I would have you know that I actually started out as a graphic designer in my teens, using YouTube and other online resources to teach myself how to design beautiful and engaging graphics. And I was making a decent living from it too. Then suddenly, through an unexpected medical situation, in a span of 2 1/2 years I went from really good vision to the point where I now only have some light perception. Shocking right? But I never allowed that to stop me. After a while of sitting at home wondering what was next for my career and asking myself “How am I going to pursue a career in IT if I cant even use my computer?”, I found the solution. A family friend made me aware of the fact that there is a software called a screen reader that I can put on my devices to be able to use them, and told me where I could go to learn how to use it. I was so relieved and excited, and I went to the organization to learn how to use the screen reader. They taught me the basics of using the screen reader, and then I used my previous knowledge in IT and sat and taught myself how to use various applications with the screen reader. I then discovered various other assistive technology and software along the way that helped me to be able to use my devices and perform my daily activities as if I never lost my sight in the first place. I then created a YouTube channel to teach other blind and visually impaired persons across the world how to do the same. Then I enrolled in university, an accessibility testing certification, and conducted a whole lot of self-learning and collaborations to gain the knowledge and skills to dominate the fields that I am in today. To put it simply, I used my disability as the stepping stone to get to the next level. Many persons that I interact with everyday, even clients, don’t even know of my visual impairment, or cant believe that I am able to do so much (at high quality) despite the disability.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Of all things, I think my excellent customer service, and high-quality services is what helped me to build my reputation in the market. We work very closely with our clients to get an idea of exactly what they are looking for and how we are planning to deliver it. We keep them updated and involved every step of the way, and we do not leave them out of the process. Most importantly, we work very hard to make sure that we go over and above the client’s expectations of our service. Most of our clients say that we provide top-notch services, all in one place, for extremely reasonable prices.
