We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shenee Randolph. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shenee below.
Alright, Shenee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I never really think about my legacy, I kind of try to be the best version of me. If I had to say what I’d like to be remembered for, it would be my heart to give back. After I became somewhat successful, I wanted to use my network and platform to give back to others. I started a black small business networking group, hosted creative markets, and began teaching classes. I want to mentor others and see others win too! Being a black woman owned business owner is very difficult, if I can assist someone on the way up, I want people to know I’m that someone to help .
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well, I am first and foremost a licensed cosmetologist and textured hair enthusiast. I value haircare and creating a space for them to feel valued and confident in themselves. I provide all hair services and some other beauty services. I am truly proud of being an educator. I have used my skills to teach others, not just for business but parents and family members who need help with their kids.
I have also began producing hair care products, always naturally derived and sulfate free for all textures. Inclusivity is important.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Well of course, Covid 19 hit the beauty industry hard. Most of us had to make some changes, and quick to save our businesses. I couldn’t see my clients, so I began giving online consultations, hair tutorials. and more. I began producing and selling my first, and best selling product, my extra strength growth oil. I learned that my clients would stick through it, if I stuck with them.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for building clientele is making sure that my clients felt valued and trust me. When my clients know I’ll take care of them, they will share your business with others. I started with a few clients before school who stuck by me and shared to someone how great a time we had. Love on your clients, and they’ll love you. They’ll tell someone and your business will grow.
