Shemicka, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

The Elevated Experience was named such because I knew I didn’t want to just plan events, I wanted to elevate lives through experiences. The name suggests a commitment to providing elevated, exceptional experiences for clients, and I believe I have lived up to the name. With the events I curate and/or host, I always try to include educational aspects as well as charitable donation opportunities. I think that what you know and how you use that to give back to your community is extremely important. I have had the privilege of partnering with several organizations and am proud of what I have been able to assist them with over the years. Come to an event and find out what they hype is all about!

Shemicka, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I started The Elevated Experience in 2016. I was working a corporate job as a project coordinator and I realized I could transfer the skills I used in corporate America, to run my own business and do what I love; Help people! I started out solely planning weddings in Houston, TX and while I enjoyed it I knew I didn’t want to limit myself. So I pivoted. I started exploring the social event realm when I moved to Dallas in 2017 and I fell in love!

I had my first Holiday Sip N Shop and it was history from there. I began expanding my network and stepping out on faith. I walked into the Children’s Cancer Fund Dallas office in 2018 and pitched a partnership. They loved it and we started a beautiful relationship. I assisted with their Gala, helped them with auction items to raise funds for the organization as well as started a free Mother’s Day Brunch for the mother’s of the children impacted by this terrible disease. Each year I would host the moms and the Dallas community would rally together with me to provide food, drinks, gifts and an unforgettable experience. I also partnered with City House Children’s Homeless Shelter the year after and found several ways to assist them with their needs for the children.

The Elevated Experience specializes in Social, Corporate & Non Profit event planning. I am very passionate about helping the community in any way I can but especially through event experiences. I have curated several event series’ over the years and I have met so many amazing people on my journey. Without the love and support of my friends, friendors (vendors turned friends) and family, I would not be where I am today.

I am now living in Austin Texas with my husband and 2 daughters, aged 12 & 8. While rebuilding in a new city has not been easy I am ready for the challenge and excited for what is to come!

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?

Resources are a common topic when speaking about starting and/or running a business. After being in business for a few years I have learned that God is my greatest resource! A lot of times we limit ourselves because of what we think we don’t know, that is why He tells us not to lean on our own understanding. You know more than you think you do! God has placed so much in you for you to tap into. We are naturally creative beings thanks to Him. You do not have to spend a lot of money to create something spectacular and I think that social media has made us blind to that fact. We see all these extravagant things online and think that we have to ball out in order to make a statement, but God has placed a specific vision in your heart for a reason. Also, Your character makes the statement for you! Your character shows in what you do and how you do it.

Is there a mission driving your creative journey?

Awareness.

Awareness is the overall goal in every aspect of what I do. Every experience I curate is geared towards awareness of community, awareness of self, and awareness of businesses/brands in your community. I love connecting people and showing them the potential they have within themselves. I love being able to help people who need it, and I always tell people that I am that friend that is going to push you out of your comfort zone! Elevation in all aspects of life is always the end goal!
