Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shemera Sinkfield. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shemera, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
HELLLOOOO!!! My name is Shemera Sinkfield, and I am an Atlanta native that is actually in Atlanna lol. I am an all around creative entrepreneur ( everything and anything creative makes me happy, so. I am building around that.) I am a photographer/Videographer with a love for Set life as well. My passion for the camera started as a child ( my twin and I first camera was the Nickelodeon film camera that came out in the 90’s but we would always play with our mom’s Polaroid camera even though it didn’t have any film inside. Anywho, that was the start and then when we got into high school, we got into a video production program and it took off from there, which led us to getting a Bachelor’s in Media Production for Film and Video.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My twin Yashemera & I created a brand together that ran from college and years after, but when Life happens and you have to make that shift, then you have to pull up your big girl pants and either eat or be eaten. It took some time and I fell off and even lost my way, but we are back together. We are building our own brands individually and together. Deep down inside of me, I knew that I couldn’t completely let the camera go. If I let it go then I let myself go and I refuse to do that. So this year 2022, I have been stepping up and over my own self to move forward. What makes me different from anyone else that is in this industry, well honestly it’s not about what makes me different because I am different. I move in passion and not profit. Passion brings profit. Morals and values and staying true to self is what keeps me and motivates me to keep going in a not only in a male dominated industry, but an industry that seems to be over saturated.
I first placed my mind where I wanted to be and then placed myself closer to the people that I already knew who are already where I would like to be or going where I would like to go and even just mesh with their energy. Relationships are everything. What you know keeps you in the door but WHO YOU KNOW GETS YOU THERE. Never let anyone tell you that you don’t need anyone.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson that I had to unlearn was actually recently. I had to tell myself that it is OKAY to not have my hand in everything that is “trending.” I actually had to learn the hard way. I was on social media and I saw all of these new trends and things coming out that looked so cool and a quick way to make money, etc… but that the move I dove into it, I not only lost money but I lost focus and direction. I was so busy trying to stay up to date when I was stepping into elements that I have not one interest in or created for. I am not a numbers person, so please tell me why I was trying to dive in all of these avenues that consisted on things that did not capture my heart but confused me.
It wasn’t until I one day was sitting in my room all kinds of clouded. My mind was literally all over the place and I couldn’t think and I just stopped everything and sat in silence. That’s when it hit me. BE YOURSELF SHEMERA! stop trying to balance all of these hats that are pulling you further and further away from your calling.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative or an artist is seeing the finished product. Whether I am working on a film set as a Production Assistant or working on my own projects, there is all one goal in mind. To create this what started off as a tiny idea in the back of someone’s mind and turn it into this grand execution ending in a beautiful piece of memorable artwork.
