We recently connected with Shema Yisarel-Eaton and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Shema, thanks for joining us today. What’s one of the most important lessons you learned in school?
My journey of going to school for medical assisting and esthetics was challenging. Finding balance between both working and going to school full time and getting through life’s challenges was hard. The most important thing for me to carry with me through school and into my career is the belief in my own success. Few times i’ve been told that “no one will be able to believe in you or invest in what you offer if you don’t believe in yourself first”, but it wasn’t until I got into an environment of like-minded women with similar ambitions to mine that I realized how true that was! I went into school with no background knowledge of either fields, just a dream. It was then that I knew I couldn’t make my dream a reality without putting my worries aside and walking in knowing that I will succeed.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My young adult years were unique, growing up as a Israelite girl struggling to find balance and identity within my culture and my environment. Many times I felt unseen, misunderstood, and didn’t even know what selfcare was. I struggled with embracing my beauty and God’s promises. Romanticizing my self-care routine has become so important to me because it helps remind me of what I love most about myself, even when I’m feeling low. Everyone deserves to see and feel their inner beauty for themselves, so I am excited to share what helps me feel most beautiful, mind and body with my collection of handmade natural skincare products variety of services from makeup, and body contouring, and other aesthetics. My mission is help encourage people of all walks of life embrace their natural beauties with non-invasive enhancements and botanical skincare that nourishes the body and mind.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The idea of Renni Aesthetics first started in 2020, as Lasi Beauti. This was also the year my chronic GI illness began. I would be sick, throwing up my entire stomach for hours, followed by many hospitalizations and recovery down time. It’s something that I still struggle with four years later, but I don’t let it slow me down or steal my motivation. Everyday I wake up thankful for good health and use it to my best advantage, making small steps towards building my business consistently.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Before Renni Aesthetics was created, I wanted to open a birthing center. Ambitious dream right, I was going to go to school for midwifery, specialize in working outside the hospital/ travel work, and eventually invest in my own space. A part of myself would still like to pursue this field of work, but beauty is my passion. When I learned about esthetics, I realized I could combine beauty and the medical field into something unique and fits me. By this time I was already in school for medical assisting, which I wanted to do while I finished school for nursing.
I decided to go to pivot and go to school for skincare, in which I got my Esthetician License! With the medical background, I plan to implement medical treatments into the skincare industry to provide high quality skincare services!
