We recently connected with Shem Goltz and have shared our conversation below.
Shem, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. The first dollar you earn in a new endeavor is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
I was 16 years old when I got my first client.
At the time, I was creating YouTube videos and self-teaching myself how to edit them, create the thumbnails, and everything else that comes with that space.
My parents pushed me to reach out to some of the creators I was watching at the time and offer my services, so I did.
Since I was just starting out, my prices at the beginning were very fair. I remember getting paid $50 for my first project, which took a lot more work than I anticipated.
Even though it was not worth it money-wise at the beginning, that first client helped me slowly improve my resume. It also motivated me to keep grinding and get better at my craft!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Shem Goltz and I am 24 years old. I got into the YouTube space by creating content myself since 13 years old. Mainly video games and then transitioned into skits and comedy videos.
Goltz Media provides content creation services for anyone who wants to elevate their content and save time and energy in the process. This includes; video editing, graphic design, short-form content, and anything else that comes with the space.
What sets me apart from others in the industry is my resume and experience. I have over 10 years of working with some of the biggest content creators and celebrities in the world, such as; Jake Paul, Ben Azelart, Loren Gray, Alabama Barker, Kenzie Ziegler, SIS vs BRO, Ninja Kidz, and many more just to name a few!
I am very proud of the amount of people we get to entertain with the content that we help create on social media. My work has been seen by millions on a daily basis, overall probably in the billions!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Hands down what helps you build your reputation in any market is good work. It is really as simple as that.
If you promise something then prove it with good quality work. That is how you keep your clients and get new ones in the process.
Reputation is probably the most important thing for me and I make sure to protect it at all costs!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I would say the most effective way to grow your clientele is word of mouth.
This ties back to protecting your reputation and making sure your current clients are happy with the good work you promise to provide.
In a sense, providing good quality work ensures you grow your clientele.
It sounds basic but a lot of people miss the mark on this.
