We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shelton R. Johnson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shelton R. below.
Shelton R., thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My most recent film, Almost An Angel has been the most meaningful project Ive worked on thus far. It’s the first feature film I’ve created that my son can watch. It also promotes the things I value personally (charity, empathy, forgiveness, Christianity, selflessness).

Shelton R., love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m just a hard working man from Norfolk, VA. I always thought telling funny stories was fun & cool, so I’ve been writing them for the past 10 years. I started with novels then switched to movies after a couple of years. I believe what separates me is my work ethic, which shows through my consistency and constant improvement. I’m not doing this for the fame, I want to put out quality movies.
I am most proud of my recent project, Almost An Angel, because its reflective of who I am today, not only as a filmmaker, but also as a man. I want people who follow my brand, @DirectedBySRJ on all platforms, to know that they can expect more clean, funny movies from me that don’t shy away from Christianity. Also, in between the movies I’ll keep you laughing with my social media skits, which are also clean.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Absolutely! Other than the Bible, I’d say these 4 books have had a major impact on on how I approach my business and life. How To Win Friends and Influence People, Making A Good Script Great, Call Me Ted, and The Score Takes Care of Itself.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I just wanted people to know that I would be touring my movie, so I started posting skits that fell in line with what they could expect from the movie. Growth in anything, but especially social media requires you to be consistent and to be yourself. Consistency comes immediately with effort and determination, but truly being yourself takes time.
