We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shelly Farrar a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shelly, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
It’s my hope that we will be remembered for our community support, giving back and a safe place and space for people to eat, drink, work, and play. We try very hard to give back to our community and to our teams. We hope that our teams can take away the tools we taught them to use their skills wherever they may go and whatever they set out to do.
I hope I will be remembered for my kindness and giving nature.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a restaurant owner and operator as well as an entrepreneur. We have two family-owned and operated restaurants as well as short-term rentals. I am also a realtor. I have been in the restaurant industry for over 35 years. As mentioned, we are family owned and operated. My main focus is public relations, social media, mixology, customer relations, community involvement, and training. I am most proud of the relationships we have developed with both our guests and our teams and how much we give back to others. I love problem-solving and working hard.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I have read many self-help books and listened to countless audio and podcasts. I am a firm believer in never stopping learning, listening, and challenging yourself. Listed below are some of my favorites that I recommend often:

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
My partners are my husband, son, and brother-in-law. I met my husband when I was 19 and moved to Florida where I was hired as a host. He was a kitchen manager and said he saw me walk in and it was love at first site. :)
