We were lucky to catch up with Shelly Cole recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shelly, appreciate you joining us today. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
It started with a day dream basically, I was a stay at home mom at the time and was with my daughter (1 or old at the time) and I started thinking of ideas, to be able to start a business from home, then over time got another idea to build forward, I didn’t write it down at all it was just brainstorming then, I actually dont write down or journal any of my business ideas or plans to this day, but it works for me.
So I took what I learned from my past work experiences and took key tool from those to start the whole plan in motion.
I knew how to do appointments, bookings, scheduling, so I utilized that into how to get clients.
Created my own logo as well, the website, and then immediately got the license and started looking into hiring next.
Things just grew slowly from there

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We have expanded alot since starting up, so now we offer multiple services like home organizing projects, which started off small, like one space or closet, then grew into full houses needing to be done, garages, etc, which branched out to donation services, which we take all over , our schedules are fast paced so we have fun doing those things, its been fun to help out needy families, and friends along the way.
We also have new categories for our men crew members, thats just getting started here recently which is exciting as well.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Id say going in person myself to the first booking, meeting them personally, building that relationship of trust and then moving forward from there, sending the teams out after that, or solo cleaner whichever is required.
Thats definitely been a game changer for us.
The 1st year or so in business I just worked from the home office so I didn’t have time to go to each client but I incorporated the urgency to do that and its been growing really quickly ever-since.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I think it would be to understand and learn that we’re not just stuck in some box or stereotype or lifestyle that certain areas of town or people try to make us feel like we are….
Anything is possible if you believe and if you can dream it you can do it, regardless of where you grew up or how you grew up.
