We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shellita Boxie. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shellita below.
Hi Shellita , thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Growing up in the South, health has always been a big part of my everyday life. Hearing my mothers and aunts saying there were on a weightloss “diet’ one week only to fall off the wagon the next. Diagnoses of high blood pressure and diabetes from being overworked and stressed to trying to make a dollar out of fifteen cents. To afford feeding a family of 4 or more as well as other basic needs. I watched stints go in, legs come off and hearts stop. I love my family very much so as a young kid I decide I may not change the world but I was going to change the habits and history of my present and future family; or at least make them thing about change.
Although I have held many certifications, I do not consider myself a fitness expert. I do, however, consider myself a real person with real goals who works real hard to get real results. Changing one person at a time to live a longterm, healthy lifestyle that will increase their standard of life.
SMB Personal Fitness goal is to provide elite, affordable, results driven personal training services Tha will empowered improve Spiritual,Mental and Physical strength to individuals and small groups in a home, corporate or event/clubhouse setting. Because…”It’s Not Just Business,It’s Personal.”

Shellita , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
SMB Personal Fitness and Entertainment, located in the beautiful Winter Park, is a very well kept secret. We offer Fitness and Films services such as small group, bootcamps and one-on-one personal training, as well as film production, casting and talent development programs,
Those who find SMB become longterm clients known as Team SMB FitFamily. We rely mostly on referrals because SMB is NOT for everyone. I have been in the business for over 25 years and I firmly believe each and everyone we’ve worked with, is an assignment from God.
I started the company to provide affordable, long term prevention to avoid the prescription. Being self employed also gave me the flexibly to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming an Actor/Stunt Double.
Being in the film industry, fitness plays a major role. One must stay ready so they don’t have to get ready. Stay in shape, no matter the size, have the endurance to sustain long hours of acting or stunt work on major films and to present and overall healthy product. Sort of an Actors Bootcamp.
I am most proud of the endurance of the company. We are a small,.female owned company with BIG goals. None of which has to do with money. “Do what you love and the money will come.” During covid, all gyms had to shut down. Team SMB sat still for weeks until we allowed to walk outside. We created our 5K A Day For 30 Days challenge, which brought us all closer than ever. We did 5 a.m. walks, protest/community activist walks, themed walks and even midnight walks. It was a team building program like no other. We laughed, cried and celebrated new loves, new lives, the loss of loved ones and over 150lbs.
Little did I know, my boutique training studio, would be exactly what was needed for those working on the frontline who needed an outlet for stress release
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As I stated before, SMB kept clients moving and challenged during covid FREE OF CHARGE. NO donations and No PPP, Once allowed,SMB opened it’s studio doors to many frontline workers who were afraid to go into big corporate gyms. We were there for people who needed us before they knew they did.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Funding my business was done little by little out of pocket. I started the company with city contracts in Parks and Rec, corporate contracts in their Breakroom and individual contracts in my hot ass garage. I bought fitness equipment little by little until I had a complete mobil and stationary gym. It was not easy. there were many years before I saw growth and progress financially but I saw growth and progress in our clients Spirit, Mind and Body. That was enough for me. Eventually, I was able to purchase and payoff state of the art fitness equipment, that our studio currently house today at 1255 Michigan Street, Suite D, in Winter Park.
