We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shelia Kechukyan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shelia below.
Shelia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I started my BrightAppetite page back in 2016, with one thing in mind..remind my audience to keep their appetite for food, travel and life always bright! I share recipes, life hacks, tips about travels with toddles, recommend restaurants, share online deals and more. I am thrilled that my audience has organically grown and the feedback I receive daily has been not only been positive but so motivating. It has been so inspiring to connect with people and brands in general through my social media and being able to continue my passion.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Shelia Kechukyan. I’m Armenian so naturally I grew up around a lot of homemade meals, lots of family gatherings and access to a lot of knowledge about food. My love for cooking started from a young age, but I didn’t take it seriously until my late 20s when i got engaged and was about to start a new chapter in my life. When I got married i knew i wanted to continue a lot of things I had learned growing up watching my mom and grandmother in the kitchen, which included baking my own bread, making homemade butter and cooking wholesome meals. Simultaneously, I started my cheeseboard catering company called CheeseToTable in 2019. I enjoy combining flavors and designing a platter so much so this brought me, and still brings me, so much joy every single time. The concept behind CheeseToTable is to provide different sizes of cheeseboards to anyone for any occasion. I wanted to share my love for cheese with everyone, but more over, I wanted others to experience my favorite cheese combinations on a platter as well.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
What keeps the drive for my creative journey going are my kids. They are such a source of energy, and I love seeing the world through their eyes. The fact that they question everything, and they want to understand how things function or why something is the way that it is. That is so fascinating to me. To see things from a different and curious perspective is the key to any creative journey, in my opinion.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started my BrightAppetite page in 2016 and my CheeseToTable page/business in 2019. With both pages, consistency has been the key to growth. With BrightAppetite just being authentic, sharing my recommendations and daily easy nutritious recipes have helped bring in a lot of traffic. With CheeseToTable its just been the creative side of it. The visual aspect of the page is whats kept it growing.
My advice is to keep posting and finding out what brings in the largest scale of views and keep that momentum going.
