We were lucky to catch up with Sheldan Wilbon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sheldan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
It was never something I wanted to pursue professionally. Making things just being creative in general is everything to me. I’m in love with what I do. I never did anything for the money just did what I love everyday. Knowing and hoping one day it would get acknowledged.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I wouldn’t say I’m in the industry. I’m just a minority trying to make something with in the majority. I paint and make music at least 345 days a year. I guess being consistent and staying focused is what got me to where I’m at today. I provide custom and original paintings to the world. While speaking through my music. The problems I’ve had to face as an artist has been mind blowing but I always try to find a solution before I worry about the stress. I’m most proud of the community that supports me and gives me reason to keep pursuing my passions. One thing I want people to know about me is patience is everything never rush art. Everything isn’t about money and importance it’s about life and happiness.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal and mission right now is to introduce the world to my story, my manga, my anime called “Poia”. Expressing that within in war and complications there still is hope for freedom and to live happy.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
So the biggest issue that I see an artist have is not finishing things. If you never finish something you won’t progress. Of course you don’t want to rush anything but you also don’t want to waste anything. So finish those ideas and projects first before you move on to the next. Don’t forget to press record.
