We recently connected with Shelby Susnick and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Shelby thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I started making short form video content starting in February 2020 and quickly realized I was good at it. It wasn’t until this year that I started landing bigger partnerships and consulting. I also didn’t realize my worth until later this year. Going back, I wish I priced myself accordingly for my services. Knowing your worth is so important these days.
Shelby, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Shelby and I run the account BoopleTheSnoot on Instagram and TikTok. I make short form video content focusing on a millennial audience of dog owners. I am most proud of creating a community of pet parents where they feel accepted. I am able to help brands reach a real audience in an authentic way.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I had to unlearn is caring what others think and being perfectly curated. The internet loves authenticity these days. People don’t want to see a perfectly edited picture anymore. They want to see the real you.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social media by showing others that I am not “special”, I am just like them. I want my content to look effortless and easy so the audience is drawn into how relatable it is.
