We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shelby Poutre. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shelby below.
Shelby, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is to help women especially moms know that their past doesn’t define them. You can create your own values and become the person you desire to be no matter the past you have had.
I strongly believe that what we go through in life helps create us for the purpose we are meant to fulfill. What we overcome we can share with others as a guide or roadmap.
I never want anyone to feel alone. What you are going through someone else has gone through also and someone else will go through after you so why not help each other.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Shelby. I am a wife and mom.
Almost 7 years ago, after having my first child, I found myself for the first time since I was 15 not working out of the house.
I became a stay home mom and craved community, to help others in some way and to make some income so I felt like I was contributing.
I found myself joining a social selling company and began sharing skincare and I loved it! I had a community, I was helping people feel confident in their skin and I was making some money.
In this time I began doing personal development. I was reading a lot of books on entrepreneurship. I began to learn a lot about myself, recognize I had the power to change and to set boundaries to protect myself. Something I never knew before. I was a people pleaser to a fault!
Fast forward and I am still sharing the skincare products along with many others as the company product line has grown.
I also have created some resources for moms and help them overcome stress and anxiety by implementing time for themselves, setting boundaries and really discovering the person they want to be and becoming her!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
It’s okay to shift and pivot but don’t give up. This life will throw everything at you to keep you from fulfilling your purpose here but you were created for more and are so much stronger than you think.
We were planning to move 1000 miles away from everything we knew to start over.
Covid happened stacking everything against us. But we packed up everything we could and moved with a 3 year old to create a better life for her.
8 months after moving I lost my dad to suicide. The feeling of guilt that I should have been there or could have done something to prevent it but I had to check myself and go back to all the healing and inner work I had done and hold him accountable for the choices he made.
The following year I lost my step dad to brain cancer.
There is so much that can set you back in this journey but the resilience comes from with in you and how bad you want it. I want a better life for my family They deserve the best version of me and I strive to be that everyday for them.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
It’s okay to say No, and no is a complete sentence. You don’t have to explain why no is your answer.
As I mentioned before I was a people pleaser. I would say yes to everything and stretch myself so thin. I never wanted to let anyone down, I wanted everyone to like me, I wanted to help any way I could but I found that’s not good for many reasons. So saying no and setting boundaries is key to overcome the people pleasing.
