We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shelby Babcock . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shelby below.
Shelby, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents are a HUGE reason of why I have been successful throughout my life and career. I played softball throughout most of my life and now I own part of a company that lets me continue to be apart of softball in a different way, and ITS MY JOB! When you play sports you are bound to fail, you are bound to go through tough times, very big highs and very big lows. And trust me, I had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. This is where my parents came in. My parents taught me at very young age that once you commit to something you follow through with it. There was no quitting, giving up, you followed through with what you committed to. Back then, there were moments where I was so mad at them for certain things, but now at my age, I am SO GRATEFUL. Life will throw you big curveballs and its how you handle those situations that really tells you a lot about your character. Being able to fight and have grit are some of the best qualities I was given through sports and pushing through hard situations. This applies to so much of my normal day life, and because of my parents pushing me to be better and to follow through with my commitments, I know how to navigate through so much more.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Shelby Babcock, I am a Colorado Native who got a scholarship to go play softball and continue my education at the University of Arizona. I played there for 4 years and coached for 2 years. After 2 years of coaching I knew that I didn’t want to be a college coach, but I did know that I wanted stay in softball. I came back t0 Colorado and started my own ‘Shelby Babcock Pitching Academy’. In my 8 years of doing this I have had around 50 student athletes go play college ball. This last year I was fortunate enough to join teams and partner with a company called ‘Vtool’. It has been so fun working with some of the best in baseball and softball. We are a one stop shop for all your needs such as instructors in all positions, physical therapy, metal performance, sports performance, etc.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
My best source of new clients started through social media. But honestly the best source has been word of mouth, Ive found that if you give your best to your clients you currently have they will refer people to you, Customer Service at its finest!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think the biggest thing that helped me build my reputation is that I don’t just consider myself a coach to the girls that I have. I have built a relationship with them and they are all treated like family. Sometimes they come in and we work on building their craft and other days they come in and just vent. I am here for whatever they need at the time,
