We were lucky to catch up with Shekinah Divine recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shekinah , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Of course, and Thank you so much for having me! Well, for starters, I was raised in a Christian home. So, I was brought up understanding the importance of women dressing modestly. As a youth I found myself styling friends and family. I taught myself how to do hair and makeup in the 5th grade which led me to have styling gigs early on.
After high school, I got opportunities to tour with artist and musicians as a model. I ended up working with clubs’ managements and a popular radio station as a promoter. I began hosting events and modeling for magazines and playing in small rolls on tv.
While working in the Industry, one of the thing that made me stand out of the crowd was the fact that I carried myself with dignity.
It’s important to understand that our appearance can make or break how we are viewed globally. It is also important to understand that people will carry the image of our style and how we make them feel forever.
So, with that being said, the mission for my styling business is to encourage women to dress in a way worthy of admiration. I’m not here to suggest that women should be in sackcloth and ashes or even in turtle neck Moo moo’s. My desire is for women to find joy in dressing with elegance. You can be edgy and even sexy while still holding on to your dignity with confidence!
I am showing women how to choose clothing that will compliment their figure without over exposing themselves. My hope is for women to wake up and become role models to the younger generation.
Now that I am a mother of three beautiful girls and trying hard to keep their innocence, it’s not easy!! Especially when we have public figures who glorify raunchy and inappropriate style and behavior. These women have become so-called role models to our innocent children — pretty much nude all over the screens. It’s disturbing.
I may not be able to change the whole world, but at least I can start somewhere!
If I can help encourage women to dress the way they would like to be addressed, with dignity and respect, I believe more women will pursue becoming better examples for the next generation of girls.

Shekinah , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Absolutely. I created The Divine LookBook which is a virtual styling platform to help women find inspiration through my style posts. I provide one-on-one styling services where my clients are able to share their style needs and goals with me. Once I understand what they want— I then create personalized Style Boards for them with direct links to “get the look.”
The Divine LookBook was created to make styling fun and convenient! I want women to be able to come home and already have a package with their new outfits waiting at the door!
My sessions are pretty simple. Clients can either purchase a Look that has already been posted on my social media page or book a virtual styling session. It’s pretty cool because my clients have the option to choose one of my styling packages which they receive an email of a list of new pieces that can be purchased whenever they want. There’s no pressure, and I love that!
We’re all about edgy elegance over here!
I’m in my 30s and I desire to encourage my generation of women to enjoy dressing up in a way that inspires! It’s important to me as a mother to have role models that hold true to their dignity. I want the future generation of women to know that they have more than just their assets to offer the world. Inner beauty is first and foremost—then cultivating a style that exudes confidence and elegance.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Ah, where to even begin.
Well, I know Covid hit everyone pretty hard. However, I wasn’t prepared for the pain I experienced in 2021.
2021 was the year that I had officially started the Divine Bombshell business
which I used to motivate and encourage women to live a life of true inner peace and beauty with God at the center—while teaching the importance of prioritizing self-care and modesty.
Mid 2021 I faced one tragedy after the next. Losing my friend, aunt, cousin, brother, and witnessing my father unexpectedly passing.
I was beyond hurt and still working through the grief. My father was my biggest supporter and my best friend. We talked every single day about anything and everything. He was my mentor and helped me with the foundation of my businesses.
I wasn’t ready nor prepared for that amount of pain. I remember crying in my car saying “Father God, please don’t let me get stuck!”
I was afraid that the grief would completely consume me.
In 2022, I felt a supernatural strength to keep pushing forward. So, I did. Although it hurt—I woke up everyday to workout which helped build mental strength. After exercising, I journaled and wrote out my goals. I also had a list of affirmations that I spoke over myself everyday. That really helped me build motivation and confidence. Praying is something I do throughout the day no matter what. It has become a habit to give my worries over to God. I can’t do it on my own and I don’t want to. I need His help.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe being authentic to who you are is so important. I cannot follow every trend. I have to understand who I am and what I want to present to the world.
Honestly, walking in love and showing support is the best way to grow. I remember when I started out, I had no idea what I was doing. I had been off social media for a couple years before joining back. Everything had changed! There was now algorithms and posting schedules that wasn’t in place when I left.
Also, be genuine and don’t be afraid to show support. Let people know that you actually care about them as a person. I don’t know how many times I’ve received messages from people thanking me for caring and how my positive words impacted their day. We never know what people are facing at the moment—so be a light in whatever field you are in.
