We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sheila Noël a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sheila, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I don’t talk about this enough but my mission was always to give back to my community. I’m Haitian and my mission is to showcase Haiti in small ways I can and to also help continue the works of my parents in their communities with environmental education.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Sheila Noël and I am the founder of Architecty Studio. Here we we have two departments: one where we provide architectural services such interior design/architecture, drafting etc and the other where we make in house decor items such as candles, plates, planters for your home. Our main medium is cement at the moment but we have things for the future lining up ;)
What we are known for at the moment are the herb infused scented candles with the floral decor on top as well as our candle refill services
Our candles help people relax without having the worry of introducing toxic and harmful chemicals into their home. It’s the perfect mood to come home to and the bonus is, especially if you are living in NYC, you get to reuse ♻️ your container over an over

Have you ever had to pivot?
I think pivoting is another word for adapting; which is how I see it. For me associating the terminology that can allow me to push is important.
I had to pivot many times in my life, business and/or business. Luckily, it is still in the realm of creativity. I wouldn’t want to glamorize business for anyone as it is a scary thing especially if it is your main source; but with my business I had to do multiple things such as gardening (landscape design); floristry, candle making, architecture drafting etc.. Each of these in their season

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Going from my first question, I believe I had to unlearn that you only need one business or that your business should only do one thing. It simply evolves/adapts/pivots over time to meet some circumstances. Though the foundation remains
