Have you ever had to pivot?
Let’s call pivoting in business “risk mitigation”. Every business needs several lines of revenue streams, and the Pandemic shutdown brought this lesson about in big ways for many businesses. With 31 Strive Street, we focus on fitness events and healthcare as a primary client source. When elective surgeries and race events were no longer allowed, we had to spend time looking outside those industries to ensure our survival. The first client we found was literally next door – Cool Bear HVAC! Regardless of the societal expectations at the time, outside HVAC work continued to hum. We greatly enjoyed learning this new-for-us industry and applying tried and true marketing rules with no box needed thinking.
This allowed us to build flexibility in our business model for a larger client base not only for HVAC, but in online retail boutiques, RV Campgrounds, and more! Race events and healthcare is still our primary client base, however, we never shy away from any industry!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Referrals and Networking! Strange to say that as an advertising agency, we don’t pay for advertising. Staying active in the fitness and healthcare communities has played a large role in our networking and gaining new clients. Our longest client relationships in these industries generally drive more business to us than we expected. With so many marketing firms, well, marketing with a high dollar spend, business owners are at a loss to sort though to what firm is a good fit for them. When a peer or fellow athlete vouches for their marketing firm, you can almost stop looking! This is truly one of the highest compliments. We are on a growth trajectory and will soon build our ad spend, but until hiring begins, we rely on referrals!
