We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sheida Kermani. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sheida below.
Hi Sheida, thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents have been my biggest teachers in life. From my mother, I learned grace and the importance of always being willing to learn. She noticed my passion for dance and music from an early age and gifted me a Spanish guitar, which I still hold dear to this day. She’s also an incredible cook and passed on many of her skills to me, though I could never match her artistry in the kitchen!
As a child, I viewed my father as a godlike figure—capable of making anything happen, even the impossible. He had a sharp business mind, a vivid imagination, and a strong belief in the power of faith and integrity. He lived by the idea of not being attached to outcomes, and always keeping his word. I remember he would never delay fulfilling a promise because he believed in the importance of doing things right away. He used to say, “If I have to cross the seven seas to get you what you need, I will,” and he always did. Through him, I learned that integrity is one of the most powerful traits a person can have.

Sheida, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Sheida, and I am grateful to be on a journey that blends creativity, learning, and service.
As an Actor, Writer, Podcast Host, Medical Imaging Professional, and Language Teacher, I believe each of these roles is a way to connect with others, share stories, and offer something meaningful to the world. My journey into these fields has been guided by a deep love for human expression and a desire to be of service, whether through the arts, education, or healthcare.
Acting and writing are sacred spaces for me—avenues to explore the depth of the human spirit and invite others to do the same. Through my podcast, *Bold Beginnings with Sheida*, I have the honor of speaking with individuals who have taken courageous steps to follow their callings, offering listeners stories of perseverance, faith, and self-discovery.
In my work as a medical imaging professional, I contribute to patient care through a blend of science and compassion. Similarly, as a language teacher, I find joy in helping others bridge cultural divides and unlock the power of communication.
What sets my work apart, I believe, is the intention behind it. I approach each of my roles with a heart rooted in humility and service, recognizing that we are all on a journey of growth and discovery. I am proud of the impact my work has had in helping others find their voice, whether it be through storytelling, healing, or learning.
Above all, I want my patients, audience, followers, and those who cross my path to know that my work is an offering—a way to inspire, support, and uplift. My hope is that, through creativity, learning, and service, we can all move closer to our highest potential.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
During my time pursuing acting in Los Angeles, I encountered many individuals within the industry—actors, casting directors, agents, managers, and producers. Navigating such a vast city filled with aspiring actors, all while hoping to be discovered without any personal connections, was a significant challenge. That experience left me feeling disempowered, and unsure of my path. At that time, I lacked a clear understanding of the business side of acting; my focus was solely on the craft, and I believed discovery would come from someone else finding me.
It took time to realize that I had been carrying limiting beliefs. The more I sought answers outside of myself, the more drained and disconnected I became. I eventually learned that the negative thoughts I allowed to shape my experience didn’t have to define my reality as an artist. I began the process of reshaping my belief system, recognizing and addressing self-doubt, and replacing it with empowering affirmations, and soon learned to cultivate self-assurance and trust in my own path.
This mindset shift was transformative. I came to understand that success in acting is not just about being discovered; it requires a deep knowledge of the industry, including the business side of the profession. Acting is a business in itself, and like any other profession, it demands a strategic approach, a clear action plan, and a sense of purpose.
By changing my perspective, I attracted mentors, coaches, and supportive individuals who helped me tap into my inner power. I realized that my journey, like everyone else’s, is unique, and that the true goal is to pursue it authentically—with intention, perseverance, and self-belief.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The main mission driving my creative journey is my hunger to reach my full potential. To explain, let me use a metaphor from *The Hunger Games*—I love using movies to make my points! I believe that just like in *The Hunger Games*, we all come into this world with a backpack full of tools. These tools are our natural gifts, talents, and resources we need to complete our life’s mission.
You can often spot these “superpowers” early on. Ever watch a child play? Whether they’re spending hours with dolls, cars, or telling stories to their toys, they’re showing you what their natural gifts are.
As adults, life throws all sorts of challenges our way. But if we take a moment to pause, metaphorically set down our backpack, and look inside, we’ll find everything we need to face those challenges. These obstacles are there to guide us toward our ultimate goal—reaching our full potential.
For me, that’s what it’s all about discovering and using all the tools in my backpack to fuel my journey in life. and let’s not forget that creativity is our superpower!
