We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shehnaz Abedin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shehnaz, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I was born into a family of engineers and architects which meant I was inherently in love with problem-solving and artistic activities. Any sort of art/craft/design amazed me all the time. Since a very early age, I developed the creative side of art/model making/photography/design and décor as in my inherit. I grew up and studied Engineering and after graduation I have worked as an Engineer for nine years. I would also do arts and crafts as my hobby which my friends and family always praised me for. They always took my suggestions on any sort of design/décor/renovation related ideas. At one point of career I wanted to give my creative side an opportunity. I started my small venture as an event planner and founded Jenyn Concept Event planning Service. My main drive is, to create events that my clients can cherish, with my unique and custom design for any kind of event they are planning for. Every event must be unique! My team allows clients to enjoy to be a part of the planning process and assures them that their event will be a great success from start to finish. Our goal is to make the event seamless, as well as affordable and within our client’s budget. I believe “Hope lies in dreams, imaginations, and in the courage of those who dare to make dreams into reality.”
Shehnaz, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Jenyn Concept is a Creative Event Planning and Photography business in San Diego and I, Shehnaz Abedin, founded Jenyn Concept. My team and I comprise of passionate and committed professionals who are dedicated to producing outstanding clients’ events that are memorable for years to come. We take care of anything and everything related to that event such as floral arrangements, rentals, entertainment options, lights and sound system/DJ and more. We work with all the 3rd party vendors and make sure everything is on schedule for client’s big event. I have started my venture in 2016 and my team and I have so far successfully done more than hundred and fifty (150) events. Our biggest goal is to see a smile on our client’s face and to hear the compliments the clients receive from their guests.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I have worked as an Engineer at Motorola/Google for nine years and that helped me build my funds to start Jenyn Concept. My family and friends also supported me unconditionally. They have helped me by attending every event I have done with me and did everything from setting tables to building decorations.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Most of the my new clients approached to me by word of mouth or they attended the event that was designed by Jenyn Concept. Some clients found us on YELP or Google search by the review/remarks as well as our portfolio.
