We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sheena Moorer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sheena, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
— My name is Sheena Moorer, and I am the owner of Bosschick Trucking and Logistics LLC, Bosschick Boutique, BossChick Notary Services, QOE Staffing Solutions LLC, and BossChick Entertainment. Over a year ago, I was working on a job that was paying me a very small salary, I was over worked and burned out mentally. Covid struck, And my boutique was impacted severely, as well as my entertainment business I closed my shop and worked off my online store. Many lives were affected, so there was very little traffic coming my way. I was sitting at my desk one day and I began to pray, I needed to go into a business that was still going to hold up even in a pandemic, so I stepped out on faith. I reached out to someone very dear to me that was also in the business. She said I got you, get a pen and a paper. She went as far as giving me the name for my business. I followed her lead and started BossChick Trucking and Logistics LLC.This was a very expensive business to start, but I made a huge sacrifice and stepped out on faith.
This business came along with everything that was designed to destroy me. I kept standing and kept fighting and most of all I kept praying. My mentor PW stayed in my ear, she wouldn’t let me quit. My friends and family were AMAZING! they stuck by my side and helped me in any way that they could because they know I don’t like to depend on anyone. This was the biggest business venture I had ever started and this business is definitely not for the weak, The most trying part of this business, are the drivers and the breakdowns on these big Rigs. The repairs are very disrespectful. It’s very hard finding reliable drivers that want to work and that will keep up your trucks because they don’t belong to them. I can write a book about my experience this past year. I always tell myself, if this business was easy, everyone would be doing it. Through it all, and all the many challenges, I still never wanted to give up. I keep pushing and praying because it’s all I know to do.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
My name is Sheena Moorer and although I’m an only child, I have always had a Hustler mentality with an entrepreneur mindset. I am a people person and I have always loved fashion. I opened my Clothing boutique in 2014 because I wanted to make beautiful women of all shapes and sizes feel good about themselves. I took out a loan and invested in myself. I sale closes ranging from size S-4X. I wanted plus size women to feel like they are just as beautiful as a women wearing a Size 2. I also had smaller women that struggled with feeling beautiful as well. What sets me aside from everyone else is that I have always kept it real with my customers. I built a great rapport with them where they trusted my judgment. It was never about the money for me. I never let them purchase something that wasn’t becoming of them. Without hurting their feelings, I would say let me put you In this outfit. Once they put it on they fell in love. They built so much trust in me and that is what kept ne going. It has not always been easy but I had more good than bad.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I’ve always heard that they have so much grant funding for minority women. I did my research, I reached out to several companies that said they would help and nothing. Grants you have to bid for and pray to win against a million other women. They make you pay to register and apply for grant funding. I got no help. So i ended up taking out a loan to purchase my merchandise and inventory and my trucking equipment. Which put me in lot of debt. It has not been easy but worth it. I am still trying to get funding.
Any advice for managing a team?
You have to build a great rapport with your team. No matter what obstacles you may face you have to keep them motivated and encouraged. Build structure, be a great role model and leader. Gain their trust and show them that you are a Team player. One Team one goal and that’s to be Successful!

When it comes to my Trucking Company, Prancetta Washington is who I would give a lot of recognition to. She is truly a girl let me hold your hand. When it came to the finances thru my struggles, my AMAZING Circle of Family and Friends. And one special person that’s behind the scene that poured out so much to cover my repairs and never complained to me. Just THANK YOU! To them all.
