We recently connected with Sheena Agyare and have shared our conversation below.
Sheena, appreciate you joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
The SHĒK Lifestyle started from my own healing journey. I was in a season of reflection, learning how to love myself after years of grief and showing up for everyone else. It wasn’t planned as a business. I was simply documenting what I was learning about self-love and boundaries.
Those reflections, along with the many things I have learned as a professional, became The Self-Love Plan, my first book. Writing it showed me how many women were searching for the same kind of healing. That book became the foundation for The SHĒK Lifestyle.
I started small, hosting group sessions, guided meditations, and community conversations. I built my website, designed my own branding, and learned as I went. Each step came from listening to what people needed.
Today, The SHĒK Lifestyle has grown into a wellness brand offering coaching, sound healing, workshops, and digital tools. It’s now expanding into The SHĒK Space, a tech-driven app that makes healing accessible anywhere. What began as my own personal healing journey has become a movement rooted in self-love and community care

Sheena, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Sheena Agyare, the founder of The SHĒK Lifestyle, a trauma-informed wellness brand built on the belief that healing isn’t a luxury, it’s a lifestyle. My work is rooted in self-love, emotional healing, and helping people reconnect with themselves after experiencing burnout, heartbreak, or trauma.
I started The SHĒK Lifestyle after realizing how many people, especially women, were trying to heal while still carrying the weight of everyone else’s expectations. What began as a personal practice grew into a t-shirt brand, which then grew into a book called The Self-Love Plan, which now serves as the foundation for the workshops, meditations, and coaching experiences I lead.
Through The SHĒK Lifestyle, I offer sound healing sessions, self-love and boundary workshops, guided meditations, and digital self-care tools that help people build confidence, peace, and balance. Each offering is designed to make emotional wellness accessible and culturally relevant for communities that are often left out of traditional wellness spaces.
What sets my brand apart is how real it is. Everything I create is rooted in lived experience and built to meet people where they are. My approach blends psychology, spirituality, and community care in a way that feels grounded and inclusive.
One of my proudest moments has been watching The Self-Love Plan reach schools and community programs, giving people practical ways to heal. Now, I’m expanding that mission through The SHĒK Space, a wellness app that uses AI to offer personalized healing rituals, affirmations, and mood-based support.
At its core, my work is about reminding people that they are worthy of their own care and that healing is possible, one intentional moment at a time.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I didn’t have investors or a big savings account when I started The SHĒK Lifestyle. I built it from the ground up using my own income from my full-time job and a lot of creativity. My first investments were small, self- publishing The Self-Love Plan, building my website, and ordering materials for workshops, pop-ups, and events. Every sale or session I hosted paid for the next step. I reinvested everything back into my business, one piece at a time.
As The SHĒK Lifestyle grew, I began applying for grants and pitch opportunities that aligned with my mission. That’s how I received funding from Visible Hands, which has been a major turning point. That support allowed me to begin developing The SHĒK Space, a wellness app that brings trauma-informed, culturally rooted healing tools to people through technology.
I’ve also continued to reinvest revenue from workshops, product sales, and partnerships to sustain growth. For me, funding has always been about resourcefulness and using what’s available, staying aligned with purpose, and building relationships that believe in the vision as much as I do.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What helped me build my reputation wasn’t strategy or marketing, it was honesty. From the beginning, I made a promise to show up as myself, even when things weren’t perfect. I built trust by being transparent about my healing process, not just the results.
People connected to The SHĒK Lifestyle because it feels real. I’m not selling quick fixes or trends. I share tools that I’ve lived, tested, and used for myself and to help others heal in their own time. That authenticity, along with my background in mental health and years of community work, has helped people see that I understand the emotional and not so pretty side of growth.
Consistency has also played a big role. Whether it’s a workshop, sound healing session, or online post, the message stays the same, healing is possible and you are worthy of your own care. That reliability helps people feel safe engaging with the brand.
Partnerships with organizations like the Muscogee Creek Nation Center for Victim Services, and Build in Tulsa also helped expand my visibility. But word of mouth has been the most powerful. People who experience The SHĒK Lifestyle often share it because they feel the difference, it’s not just something to attend, it’s something to experience.
At the core, my reputation was built on showing up with empathy, integrity, and purpose. I didn’t chase validation. I built connection and that’s what lasts.
