We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sheeba Lee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sheeba below.
Sheeba , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I always knew I would do something creative but it has been a journey to find my niche. Starting in high end residential and then commercial interior architecture, costume design, graphic design, art direction and then creative direction for my own two brands. Sheebaleedoo, marketing + design services and Tigrwolf, apperal + home online store.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have been a professional designer for over 10 years. I started working in interior architecture for high end residential clients in downtown Philadelphia and the Main Line area. Then moved to commercial interior architecture when I moved to Boston to finish my degree at Boston Architectural College. I work in one of the top architecture firms in Boston, Elkus Mandfredi Architects. I also attended School of Fashion Design in Boston and then interned as a costume designer at Boston Conservatory. I made the move to Dallas to be around my family and work at The Marketing Arm as an Art Director Intern.
After completing my degree in 2014 in Design Studies for Sustainable Design I decided to go out on my own. I did freelance work for years I built up my portfolio and client base. After years of freelance work I wanted to be around a team again, so I took an Art Director job at Triggerhouse in Portsmouth, NH. Specializing in experiential marketing, I did event design and this came to a hault when the world did in 2020 from the pandemic. I then went back to working for myself at Sheebaleedoo providing design + marketing services and selling my fadhion work at Tigrwolfspirit.com my online apperal + home store.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal in life is to use my creative skills and nature to give back to society through design. I donate my time + work at UpReach Therapeutic Equestrian Center in marketing as one way to give to programs that truly save lives. I also donate a portion of the profits of Tigrwolfspirit.com to aspca for the help with abused animals.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
To create a positive experience for a person to remember and share is such a brilliant feeling. Where it be working with a client on defining their brand to bring their work to life or seeing someone post a picture wearing my designs, the reward is the joy they find in something I created. The feeling is intoxicating.
