We were lucky to catch up with Shechinah Butler recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shechinah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Starting a podcast was my biggest risk because the platform itself allows me and others to be vulnerable. My first episode was my toughest because I told my own story. It took a couple of takes because I cried through most of it. I’ve never fully told my story to anyone other than those closest to me. I recorded while I was out of town for a girls trip and created a space where I could be completely alone to get my thoughts out on paper then record the episode. The first episode was my only one where I completely by myself. I knew that needed to be the first one where I shared my story since I would be asking others to be apart and share theirs as well. I’m proud of myself for taking this risk and getting out of my comfort zone.
Shechinah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Concealed SCARS is a platform to bring awareness to various topics mainly focused on health/mental health. I’m proud of putting myself out there and reaching out to people because I know or figured that their stories could help someone else which my goal. I just want people to know that we all have a story whether it be good or bad we each made it to a point to where we can tell it and help someone else. In the process of telling my story and allowing others to tell theirs it can be therapeutic. I can only speak for myself but I hope it’s like that for those sharing and listening as well.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
When looking for more guest to be on my podcast I usually have people in mind depending on the topic or the theme for the season. I do have it where I post on social media letting people know how they can get in contact with me through email and the platforms Instagram page(@_concealedscars) . All are welcome to be apart in sharing to help someone else.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I try to attend different workshops or networking events to not only help me on a professional level but a personal level as well. I always make sure I have tangible business cards as well as virtual cards as well. When I go to different businesses that allow others to place their cards in their shops I tell them about my business/platform and ask them to add my cards as well.
