We recently connected with Shebia Clark and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Shebia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with a hypothetical question – if it were up to you, what would you change about the school or education system to better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career?
I think students should be taught as early as grade 3, on conflict resolution, enhancing their communication skills along with an understanding of expressing their emotions. I think by grade 6, students should be exploring their passions, inherited skills, and talents. Children are expected to make life changing decisions at age 18 but aren’t taught how to manage a checkbook or verbalize and draft their internal visions. I think life goal setting/planning should begin as early as grade 7-8. Parents and educators should work together to help expand a student’s visions and goals while in school.
I knew at age 16 that I wanted to be a Realtor. However, there were no Realtors in my rural hometown of Belzoni, MS, who looked like me. I asked my teachers “how to begin a career in Real Estate”, yet no one could guide me. Students should have an experience with teachers who can see their passion, and immediately put them on the track of achieving their visions. This method will better prepare students to make clear and concise selections with their college career or their path in the workforce.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a licensed Real Estate Broker. I have been licensed as a Realtor for 17.5 years and a Broker slightly under one year. I currently own and operate a Real Estate Brokerage in both Mississippi and Georgia. Currently I spend my time managing, supervising, educating and training agents within my firm. I enjoy grooming agents on how to grow their business with professionalism, honesty, good integrity while becoming more and more knowledgeable in the industry. What sets me apart from other Brokers is that I truly care about our agents growing mentally, and understanding the industry, so that they can best serve the client. As a Broker, I take my time with agents and teach them until they understand. Our firm provides a platform where good, honest, and fair business practices exist. I think of our agents as PARTNERS! I may own the company but without each other, neither of us will grow.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
My best source of clients ultimately comes from God. Every client that I will ever sell a home to, their name is already attached to me and I’m already attached to them. Being that all things are predestined, my job isn’t to chase a client or work in a way that is opposite of my faith. My job is to get up as many days as possible and give consistency in managing the business. My job is to be in full alignment with my business disciplines, knowing that every client that’s assigned to me will be released to me in the proper timing. Nevertheless, my past clients are great referral sources. It is a pleasure to receive my past clients’ referrals, as it signifies that my services were exceptional.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My most effective and absolute strategy is being of great service to my clients. I was created to serve, and I take pride in providing excellent service with every client in an industry that I absolutely enjoy evolving in. It’s business on the surface however, it becomes personal as every client often becomes lifelong friends. My business has grown to become 100% referral based because of the level of service that I provide.
