We recently connected with Sheba CreativeAF and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sheba , thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with what makes profitability in your industry a challenge – what would you say is the biggest challenge?
This is just my professional opinion, but I believe that the biggest challenge to profitability when working in Creative Services is not always knowing your worth and not being able to charge enough to create a sustainable income. This comes from generally low balling when starting out and not knowing how to raise your rates once you realize, it’s not enough. Additionally, the people who are seeking our services don’t actually know what the energy costs to produce projects for them, so they assume it should cost less for a photoshoot or commercial than it actually does.

Sheba , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
This article is specifically focused on one of my new brands, MUZE Marketing & Management.
This brand is designed as a creative collaborative that has a mission to inspire the world through creativity. We offer a wide array of creative services but what we do differently is find the creative that best suits the needs of the client through review of scope and budget. It’s all too often that clients believe they can’t find a creative because they can’t afford it, but you don’t know who is really offering what, and at what cost. We do that work on your behalf.
This came about because I decided to put my large network to use and help my colleagues connect with the clients they may not be able to find for themselves. A lot of my clients are brands themselves and as their manager I’m able to use my network to ensure that they get the best possible photography, videography, logos, web design and content available. It’s important to build your brand online the right way, when we present your project or brand to the media, we want to make sure that all the boxes are checked, and you come out smelling like roses.
Overall, we love to take on large scale projects for brands and businesses like commercials or rebranding endeavors that require extensive creative work and marketing campaigns. One of my goals is to see us tackle a campaign for a Fortune 500 company and knock it out of the park. Some of our most recent projects include a documentary, short film, and events like Poolside Networking with Artemis Events.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice
I usually call them and crypto currency “unseen” money, I don’t really know why I just thought about it one day and it kind of stuck with me. As far as NFTs specifically, I own one, and I’m learning a lot about them through working with The Shadowryderz Army and the MIME X MIME discords. I recently did a podcast with Shadow and NFT Mansa and it was so fun talking to them about crypto currency and the rise of Tezos. I’m hoping to create some NFTs with my own media soon, it’s just such a cool time to be an artist because we have the ability to be a lot more creatively when it comes to web3.
If you’re looking to learn more about NFTs then I would definitely check out the spaces on Twitter because there are conversations happening non-stop that can teach you how to get into this and other new ways of trading.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One thing I definitely had to unlearn was in regard to trying to do everything myself. I think a lot of creatives have this issue, we’re so creative that we generally don’t need anyone else to do things with us to produce anything. However, if you want to grow, you’re going to have to share the spotlight, the wealth, the work, or whatever it is that you feel like belongs to you only. It’s different for everyone, for me I just didn’t like asking for help. I didn’t want to burden others with things that I could do for myself.
When it came time for me to seek projects and clients with larger budgets, I knew that the project scopes were way too large for me to take on as one person. It has been such a blessing to be able to share workloads and encourage other creatives through the work we’ve been doing with MUZE.
