Alright, Shaz thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
In May of 2021, I officially opened Stretch Dr. San Diego’s premier assisted stretching and recovery clinic. I graduated in June of 2021 with my Doctorate. I have always had a vision of opening my own clinic and I saw a need in the market for high-quality assisted stretching and recovery. Every professional athlete has their own rehab specialist where they go through assisted stretching and other forms of recovery and I wanted to bring that concept to the general population.
When I turned 30, I went back to school and graduated with my Doctorate in Chiropractic in June of 2021. In April of 2021, I quit the clinic I was interning at to start Stretch Dr. I had $2000 in my account which was just enough money for a deposit and first month’s rent to start my own clinic. For the first five months, I worked 12 hour days seeing patients from 8am-8pm back to back and also doing marketing events on the weekends. This was extremely challenging but I am happy to say I’ was able to hire my first employee and grow my business with the ability to expand In January 2024. I’ll be expanding and opening a larger location to be able to see multiple patients at the same time.
I also use percussive guns and foam rollers by Hyperice at the end of each session to break up any knots from your neck to your feet. Also included in the session is a 10 minute compression therapy session with Normatec leg compression sleeves which constricts the blood flow to your limbs and when the constriction is released, fresh blood is pooled to your arms and legs, initiating a healing effect. I am very proud of the reviews I read on Stretch Dr’s google business page, yelp and classpass account, we have over 200 five star reviews! It’s very humbling to know how my service positively affects my patient’s lives, as a practitioner this is very rewarding to me. This is all within 6 months of opening and I am excited to see what the future entails.
I am also very proud of the partnerships I’ve made with fitness studios like Sweat Salt Pilates, F45, Pure Cycling, Stride, Elevate Pilates local personal trainers and chiropractors. The partnership I am most proud of is working with Miracle League which is a non-profit baseball league for children with disabilities. Also proud of working with City Sweat which is a group fitness class that has its profits go directly to San Diego Youth Services. Giving back to the community is a priority of mine and is what my business was intended to do.

Everyone knows the benefits of stretching but nobody makes time for it and it’s difficult to see a change in range of motion without assistance. I am happy to help my patients through a structured assisted stretching program that will increase range of motion, decrease tension and improve their quality of life!

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I would choose a professional similar to what I’m in, a profession that’s within the wellness industry. Nothing feels better than improving the life’s of others. To be amongst a community that encourages optimal health and the ability to elevate pain is very rewarding.

The feedback received from my client’s after a session is what helped build my reputation. The momentum behind stellar reviews builds integrity amongst our community. Google, yelp reviews and word of mouth has given me a positive name within the wellness world.
