We recently connected with Shayna Davis and have shared our conversation below.
Shayna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I’ve been creating content for 9 years now. After getting out the army and getting my bachelor’s degree in communication. I found it was hard to find a job in this career field even though i had years of experience and education. I decided that i would make my own way by starting my agency Quoise Marketing & Media. I knew that if i wanted better opportunities I would have to create them myself. When starting my agency I knew that I would want to help other young adults get their foot in the door by providing job opportunities through my agency. I am happy to say that I have been able to do that and will continue to help leverage others through my business.
Shayna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am from Maryland and moved to Texas when i joined the Army. Growing up i was always outgoing and creative. The more i learned about technology and social media the more fascinated I was with it. I started creating content in 2014 and over the years have been able to work with some amazing brands and people. I have documented my journey starting with high school, going to the Army, and moving to a new city alone. I started my business to create new opportunities for myself, and others. Quoise Marketing & Media LLC is a social media marketing agency that helps busy business owners manage and grow on social media. Specializing in the fashion and beauty industry. What sets me apart from others is how much i am involved in my client’s businesses. I do not just post on social media. I come up with strategies to help their business grow and leverage on and off of social media. I genuinely want to see my clients grow as a business. I am most proud of seeing results from my clients and never giving up on myself. Owning a business is not easy and some days will be better then others but I continue to keep going for not just myself but everyone I work with. What I want anyone reading to know is to go after all your dreams. Also, you can not do everything by yourself. Do not be afraid to ask for help or outsource and start building a team.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When building an audience on social media I would say first be yourself. Many people want to see you for who you really are. My audience have grown the most from me sharing my story and experiences. Even when I may think the numbers aren’t doing so well I still get new clients and supporters every week. Focus on what you do have and not what you don’t have.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A time I had to pivot is when I got out the military and was looking for a job in my career field. I felt like I was getting deny after deny and wasn’t understanding why no one was giving me an opportunity. I had to then take a step in another direction by creating my own agency. I was scared to do that but i took a step out on Faith.
