We were lucky to catch up with Shaylyn Adams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shaylyn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
Yes Rest is so important to me and my creativity. When i take a vacation from working have the opportunity to explore new places, try new things, rest. when i come back to working hard again i feel refresh and have new projects i want to work on

Shaylyn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Im Shaylyn Adams and I run the photography/videography company QydProductions with Ravonne Mckenzie. We started Qydproductions at Michigan State University. Ive always been into the visual arts and film. While in school I spent most of my time taking photos at local events and creating portraits on campus. I took advantage of the resources of campus and would check out cameras, mics and lights for my personal projects. I knew that is was something i wanted to take further ,so picked up more hours at the job i had at the time and fully invested in to my business. QYDProductions offer photography and videography business our tagline is “Vibe & Create” we like to have a fun positive easy going energy when working with clients so we can create the best end product. we love to have a good time creating and bring people together we host “Girls need love ” events where we bring out models and women photographers to shoot together
I’m proud that our work make people feel magical and beautiful that is my goal and when I see and hear the reaction it gives me life.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
I met my business partner Ravonne Mckenzie while at Michigan State University. She stayed in the dorm across the hall from me and we became good friends. She was also into photography and film so we both would stay in school labs learning techniques and photoshop. We would also shoot at concerts and events together So when i started Qyd productions I knew she would be the perfect partner.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Earlier in my creative journey i wish i was around more photographers and creatives. I learn so much from the community and alot of them are so willing to share what they know. the creative community is so important to my journey being able to bounce ideas and techniques off each other has been the biggest help.
