Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shayla Nicole. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shayla, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started sooner or later?
The one and only reason why I wish I could go back in time and start sooner is because of my age. However the truth is I wasn’t ready at a younger age and my experiences, wisdom and maturity developed over time. You have to be mentally mature & financially responsible, in my opinion to run a successful business.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As a real estate investor, I’ve seen how the recent surge in the real estate market and rising home prices have made it increasingly difficult for the next generation to become homeowners. It became my mission to change this by providing affordable homes for future generations. I purchase homes that have lost their luster and restore them to their former glory, offering them at affordable rates. I’m concerned about foreign corporations entering our communities and turning our children into renters instead of homeowners. I don’t think it’s fair for foreign entities to prevent our future generation from achieving the “American Dream” of homeownership.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I funded my business with the money from my 401k, which I built up during my time at what I thought was my dream job. While working there, I contributed the maximum amount allowed to my 401k, and the company matched it. Over eight years, I accumulated over $60,000 in my 401k. When I was laid off in 2021, I used all the funds from my 401k to invest in what I realized was my true dream: Starting my real estate business. I purchased my first investment property with that money, so in a way, losing my dream job paved the way for my dream life.
