Shawntinique, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Shawntinique Shepherd, and I go by Nique The CFO. I have always had a passion for numbers and owning my own business. One of the main reasons I got into my industry is that many tax preparers and accountants weren’t educating their clients adequately and I wanted to be that change. The types of services I provide are tax preparation for businesses, tax planning, accounting services, and CFO services. The main thing that sets me apart is my personality. I am very outgoing and I want my clients to feel as if I am their best friend, I want them to be 100% honest with me so that I can properly educate them and help them reach their financial goals in business. I am most proud of my clients when we see a financial change in business, discipline goes a long way in your business.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

The thing that helped build my reputation within my market is my honesty. I am very honest, and I am very blunt. I will tell the truth, whether others like it or not. I will tell people the right way to do things even if it doesn’t sound as pleasing as what an internet guru has told them. Me being this way, I have built trust, and it has changed so many people’s viewpoints on financials in a good way. They aren’t worried about a tax return or taking unnecessary deductions like they usually would.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

I can honestly say referrals and google. Referrals have been the primary source for my tax clients because they will tell their family and friends about my services and so on. Google has been a good source for my accounting clients because they are looking for the help they need in their business.
