We were lucky to catch up with Shawna Fletcher recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Shawna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
The biggest risk I have taken related to my creativity is finally self publishing my first novel. I worked on it for over a decade. At first it was a simple passion project to get the characters out of my head and come to life on paper. Then as I read more and more books, I realized there was a market for my story. It was super scary when readers actually stated reading my novel, Pull of the Moon, but once the feedback rolled in and readers connected with the story I knew the risk paid off.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a spicy romance author that specializes in wrecking readers emotionally. There’s true love, drama, betrayal, death – a true emotional roller coaster.
I’ve published 2 romance novels, Pull of the Moon and Unseen Scars.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a romance author is when readers tell you they cried or they loved the characters or related to it. I know I’ve done my job well.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal in publishing and writing is to simply connect with readers and for them to enjoy my stories.
