Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shawna Dale. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shawna, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear your thoughts about making remote work effective.
At first I thought connecting with clients and their passed loved ones or spirit teams could only be done in person. Through practicing, I discovered that I’m able to channel remotely before sessions with clients all over the world. The only challenges have been working around various schedules and time zone differences and the benefits are that myself and my client are able to connect in meaningful spiritual ways even from afar while in the comfort of our own spaces.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have always been able to know things but I didn’t take much notice to it. My grandmother always claimed to be psychic my whole life, and always told me I had the gift even stronger than she does and I never really believed her. As life went on, I followed my passions in art, realized I wanted to help others in a therapeutic way as art making helped me through a breakup…then pursued a degree in expressive arts therapy. This work felt like the perfect mix of using art and different creative alternative modalities to help clients find ways out of stuck places. The theory of the therapist being the support and the client being the expert of their own life really fit with my style of work where instead of diagnosing, and staying separate, it is about holding the space, exploring together through play and creativity. I enjoyed facilitating art therapy groups where the focus was on personal power and the healing aspects of the arts. I ended up full time working with the disability community, in particular the autism community where I ended up running a program to help teach and support social skills and life skills. It was through a few situations where I could hear the non speaking/non verbal participants communicating to me through our minds that I decided to practice what my grandmother always told me to do- psychic readings. During Covid, the world went quiet and I wanted to help bring hope to people somehow, and decided to practice first with tarot readings and then actually trying to channel messages. On my first attempt on channeling a friend, I immediately got vivid messages, images and feelings and felt this sense of excitement and wonder that I had never felt before. I told her what I saw, thinking it made no sense and she started crying- told me it was things she had never told anyone about her, family members I didn’t even know about, and more. I had to continue this because I felt a sense like this is what my true purpose is- to support people through messages from their passed loved ones, higher self, past lives, inner child and more. By using the strengths based empathic teachings I had used in my career, I am able to offer almost like a spiritual form of therapy where homework is given to help tend to the root of any pain a person is experiencing. I now offer short little love readings, year ahead readings with messages and support 12 months ahead, live zoom readings for 30 minutes or an hour, and written detailed readings. I also attend local fairs and offer readings in person and a chance for folks to meet me and get a feel for the work I do. The last expo I was at, the women’s expo, I ended up unintentionally making every client cry. Often what comes up are deep wounds that spirit is suggesting the client is ready to heal from, and ways to do so. This helps them move into a place they want to, where they feel more fulfilled and like they’re following their highest passions with their daily practices (their own tool belt of support) from spirit. The arts and connecting with people and their whole spiritual energy field to feel more uplifted and supported is my passion and my life purpose. I adore the work I do, and get a high from being able to offer support in such a magical unique way. Eventually I will be making and selling my own oracle card deck with symbols I get from spirit, stay tuned! For now, I’ll be offering readings. What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Being authentically myself and connecting with clients in beautiful ways has helped the most. The client feels my authenticity, loving messages that are always strength based and empathic while also providing support. They end up telling everyone they know how mind blowing the reading was, and it has spread mostly that way.
I did a reading once for a famous YouTuber without knowing who he was. He was blown away by my readings, saying they were the most in depth and spot on he’s gotten and ended up giving me a shout out on his channel- really spreading the word that way just by offering a wonderful service and word of mouth.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
People who normally don’t get psychic readings enjoy my readings because they are so unconventional in the sense that I’m not a fortune teller (nothing is ever set in stone), I’m moreso given possibilities and seemingly random but helpful messages from spirit. Before what will be/happen, I’m given what is holding a person back from that thing they are wanting (love, career, better relationships, etc) and I share it in a way that is hopeful. What sets me apart is how it’s almost like an in depth therapy report and saves a person many years of therapy by getting straight to the root of the pain, and how to tend to it, in order to experience relief, and live a happier life. I also am able to connect with passed loved ones, and my favourite, their inner child. This is what weaves in the art therapy background I have, where often homework comes up to help move through stuck places with the power of nature, creativity and self love. Clients feel like friends and it is a pleasure and honor to connect in such an intimate magical way.
