We were lucky to catch up with Shawn Novom recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shawn, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
When I was a kid, my mother’s laptop was something that I would use all the time. There were various apps that were known as MS Paint and Windows Live Movie Maker. My brother would show me various videos of silly animals and other things, and I was initially confused because some of these would be on “Myspace” However, he later told me that this website was a new one that mainly featured videos and that website is called “Youtube” While browsing through Youtube I found so many interesting things like Animation, Stop Motion, and Skits which initially jumpstarted the career that I wanted to pursue.
Shawn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Shawn Novom, I am a content creator, artist, and an aspiring actor. What made me want to chase the dream of becoming a content creator was ever since I was young watching animated and live action films. the kind of media that I provide is through seriousness and also comedic value whether it is through music, coming to an understanding of something new in life, or through video, an emotion is what I try to get out of my viewer. The journey of watching someone who took losses only to witness them slowly achieving is what I think makes me different than the rest.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
“It’s important to stay happy” while being happy everyday is a trait I think everyone should go by, sometimes that may not be the case. When there is a problem at hand I take it as if life is trying to test your strength once again so you can achieve that happiness. Constantly going to the gym may or may not put a smile on your face but if you do it consistently you will find that happiness within. And I think that goes for any other sport, talent, or career.
Knowing your emotion and understanding it makes you a strong person rather you believe it or not. Finding the cause for that sadness or anger can help you reflect on that emotion and prevent it from getting worse. Ignoring the rising water will only make you deal with it later or worse.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative?
The most rewarding aspect is the feedback from someone who enjoys your content. As ridiculous as it sounds a simple “W Shawn” (“W” is an abbreviated term for a win) can put the biggest smile on my face. The good emotion from a viewer is what I think any person pursuing the field I am in would want.
