We were lucky to catch up with Shawn Noratel recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shawn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear your thoughts about making remote work effective.
Right now, my team and I work remotely two days a week while the other three days we work in our Annapolis, Maryland office. We actively engaged with and polled all team members when it came to making this decision. We have provided the necessary tools, equipment, and communication platforms to ensure that we are able to collaborate and complete work efficiently. Additionally, I have been able to build and maintain trust with all of my employees to ensure deadlines are met and standards are maintained. There is most definitely not a one size fits all approach to working remotely though I have considered the needs of all of my employees, and this hybrid schedule works best for us.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am the CEO and Creative Director here at Liquified Creative. Before founding my own agency, I served as the Senior Art Director at BORCZ + DXON. As a Maryland Institute of College of Art graduate, my passion and expertise lie in creative direction. Founded in 2007, Liquified Creative is an advertising and communication firm that is rooted in creative and branding. We have grown to become one of the region’s leading advertising agencies and are known for producing award-winning work. Our team is proud to have a diverse portfolio of work that spans across several verticals and prides itself in providing a full-service and client-centric approach. In the early years, Liquified Creative produced creative products for clients such as Bozzuto Homes, Broadstripe, and National Geographic. Our current portfolio has included a wide variety of clients such as Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation, DeCaro Auctions, and American Breast Cancer Foundation, among others. We have positioned ourselves as thought leaders in a multitude of industries and provide our clients with a holistic approach to brand development.
Any advice for managing a team?
I am always listening to what my team thinks and ensures to include them in the overall picture. It is important to be open to both criticism and solutions. I have built an amazing and hardworking team, and I am so proud of everything we have been able to achieve. I make it a priority to check in with my employees to ensure they feel heard. This has allowed my employees to feel encouraged and engaged. Additionally, listening to my employees and sharing how much I value their hard work has boosted workplace morale.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Liquified Creative started as a one-person studio over 16 years ago. We were defined by our work and creativity and still are. I had the ambitious goal of creating an agency that was unique and though it was not easy, I have worked hard to build one of the region’s best boutique agencies. We stand firm behind the brands that we have developed. The firm was built with the intention to control the overall creative process and to ensure the quality of each and every brand. We are proud to be stewards of the brands that we represent. No matter what, we have always remained innovative, original, and authentic. Looking into the horizon, Liquified Creative is expanding its footprint into the luxury market as well as its locations throughout the US to better serve our clients.
