Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shawn Hart. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shawn , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us a story about a time you failed?
Being born with Epilepsy, I was always viewed as limited. Teachers, family, and friends would always tell me what I could not do.
Growing up with this disease, caused me to become held back in school, I never seemed to advance as quick as the others.
School became a challenge, and I faced that challenge head on. All it took was persistence, and it eventually paid off.
Writing three books has helped me realize, that we do not let our disability define who we are.
In turn we define our disability. I say to all of the younger generation, do not let your disability stop you from dreaming, and being all that you can be.
Dreams are goals, that in time will become one day reality’s.
But first, believe in yourself, and the rest will come together.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Dear Reader, let me start by introducing myself to you. My name is Shawn Hart. I am 35 years old. I live in a small town known as Yazoo City, Mississippi.
Authoring books was never a plan, or desire I saw for myself.
What led me to writing was the untimely death of my mother in October of 2019.
I turned to writing as a way of coping with my mother’s death. Writing my first book was a way of helping deal with my grief.
I’m sure that for most of you, grief doesn’t come easy.
My inspiration for these stories came from my own life struggles. Epilepsy and Depression. Creating these stories help ease the depression. In turn I could bestow my troubles onto the lives of my characters, and give them a voice.
Suffering from Epilepsy my whole life and hearing people tell me what I can and can’t do was just the motivation I needed to begin my writing career.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part is sharing my work with the world. That maybe someone will read my book, and it will give them the courage to try new things and discover, whst they are capable of.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
My friend and author Vickie Valladares, inspired me to become an author and writer.
She has always been a confident strong woman, and belief in herself as she has, gave me the confidence to believe in myself.
