We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shawn Cox a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shawn, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
We don’t just have a party…we throw a Bash! As a wedding & special event DJ I get the opportunity to turn a normal evening into an unforgettable one. I want to make my clients dreams come true on the dance floor with music and setting a vibe! The perfect vibe for each client cause they are all unique. No two parties are the same and that’s why me and my whole team of professional DJ’s go above and beyond to curate that one of a kind playlist and get you dancing to music you never even thought you wanted to hear! Anyone can play the same old bangers and believe me do play the classics. But the magic happens when you enhance the energy with a fresh approach and digger deeper for the songs people forgot about!
Shawn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Shawn Cox, Owner of Bash Entertainment and DJ/MC for weddings and special events. I’m 42 years young and started djing about 20 years ago. I was in a hip hop group called the “lost elementz” and we got asked to Dj a wedding. After rocking that first wedding I was hooked. Steadily improving my craft and harnessing my ability to mix music. Something about getting grandma and all your freinds on the dance floor bopping to beat just really excites me. Seeing the look on the newlyweds face after an amazing night of dancing really fuels my passion to keep going. Over the years I’ve added a wide array of services to my companies offerings. We not only provide fun DJ services but also have started of the art photo booth services. Including the Amazing Selfie Mirror. Plus photography and videography services as well!
Many clients want a all in one service and this solves that problem. They are stressed enough planning a wedding. Let us handle all these services under one roof!
Our Djs and personal approach really sets us apart. We take the time to get to know our couples and our goal is have their guests leaving the wedding or special event with tired feet from dancing all night and smiles on there face from all the fun they had. Leaving them talking about the wedding for years to come!

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Put your team first! Bash Entertainment wouldn’t be possible without the hardworking and talented professionals behind all facets of the company.
I try to teach them everything I know so they could go out on there own but pay them well enough they don’t want to.
We are a family and treat them as such. We celebrate together and carry eachothers burdens. One team one dream!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The pandemic was truly the hardest time of my career but also gave birth to my team. With so many rescheduled events I had to grow my team of DJ’s over night and had no option but to survive. That’s my silver lining of such a scary time for small buisness owners and we were pivoting every week with new challenges trying to stand in our way. Overcoming them all we are now stronger and more resilient then ever!
