We were lucky to catch up with Shawn Boissinotte Alexis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shawn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I always knew since I was a kid that I wanted to pursue the career of an artist. I was always this imaginary child perceiving a multitude of things so in a way I knew I was always going to share my gifts with the world I just didn’t know in what capacity. It became serious for me when I was I started rapping at around age 17 and being fed up with the mundane way of life and deciding I want to create my own reality and not live in someone else’s.
Shawn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello my name is Shawn and I consider myself an Artist of life. I create a lot through different outlets but what lights my fire the most is producing/dj’ing house music and teaching/training kung fu and qigong. I was always into music from a young age so as I grew older my passion for music grew also and I really always wanted to express myself through music so I started as a rapper and to further my curiosity I got into producing in 2016 and haven’t stopped since. I’ve DJ’ed worldwide and released numerous tracks since then and I look to continue to build on this momentum.
Martial Arts was always a passion of mine as well, I’m a huge anime nerd also so I always wanted to learn to fight like in the anime. I started practicing Karate at an early age and since 2018 I’ve been training kung fu. Now that I’m older I realize how my martial arts practice is making me grow as a person and how I can use kung fu to help other people grow also. I started teaching Kung Fu in 2022 and I see the impact it has on individuals and being able to be the catalyst that helps someone better themselves is very fulfilling to me, that’s why I created my brand/company called Limitless which serves to help people embody their own truth and every aspect of themselves to the fullest so they can live a life of purpose.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wouldn’t say any resources but if I could talk my 17 year old self that was embarking on his creative journey, I would tell him that you don’t need to chase anything any trends etc… I would tell him to focus on yourself don’t worry or compare yourself with others this is your journey and it’s unique to you, just be the most authentic you that you can be and and the world will catch on to your movement.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to be of service to others while experiencing the best of everything out of life and learn so I can be the be limitless version of myself. Like I said in the previous question what fulfills me the most is knowing that I’ve helped someone become a better version of themselves and I just want to be that sparks that inspires you to be the best version of yourself.
