We were lucky to catch up with Shauneille Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shauneille, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Shauneille is a native of New Jersey. Who believes what you hear repeatedly as a child develops your belief system and can stay with you throughout your adult life.
Shauneille experienced being told as a child “What she wasn’t or What she couldn’t do more frequently than what she was great at doing.
Shauneille’s life experience has taught her that knowing what she is good at and knowing what she enjoys, developing her gift is necessary to maximize potential.
An encounter at walmart impacted Shauneill’e life forever. While in Walmart, Shauneille observed a long line of onlookers that restless sighs got louder and louder with each coin. Behind Shauneille stood a man & his son that sighed repeatedly & loudly while Shauneille took her coins out of her change purse. The man firmly told his son to shut up & looked in Shauneille’ direction & told her to take her time.
Throughout Shauneille’s career, she got tired of be asked to serve on multiple boards to communicate her ideas. But when she applied for a better position that would better compensate Shauneille for her ideas; she was repeatedly told no.
Finally, Shauneille eyes became open if she wanted change. Shauneille would have to change her actions to a more effective system to see the results that she saw was possible. Shauneille began to aim higher by researching her options, assessing the direction that would be fulfilling & financially accommodating.
Shauneille’s concentrated focus has produced what she saw possible back then because where you are willing to put in the work. There will be growth.
Shauneille inspires women leaders to identify their value in their family, community and organizations; through provocative thought resources that initiate personal and staff development resources.
I provoke listeners to think reflect and take ownership in being the answer where they are using what they have in ever business and social get together.
I challenge my audience to think beyond now and consider their decision and how they affect those that matter most to them longterm knowing your value is a mindset that is needed today.
Awareness of the value we bring individually makes coming together more productive. Because it emphasizes collectively brining about positive solutions that bring about fulfillment and creates a win win within the family community and organization.
For all event planners and promoter that would like to experience a sample of my thought capabilities. I encourage you to go to amazon and get my new release Empowered for you journey Be intentional which has been named an International bestseller.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I grew up in a multi-cultured neighborhood in New Jersey. I remember walking down the street having a man yell out his window aren’t you in the wrong neighborhood!!!
This opinion from this Stranger that questioned where I belonged triggered an ongoing
question of WHY?
Jeremiah 1:5 states ‘Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I knew
you. Before you were born, I chose you for a special work. I chose you to be a prophet to
the nations.” ( ERV Version)
I have always had this feeling that contradicted what I saw!
When I saw that certain communities were nicer than others?
Or when I was told to settle.
My response would always be WHY?
When I saw there are 2 sets of rules & certain rules that appear to be wrong are in
favor of others…..
I would ask WHY!
Why are there educational disparities?
Why are there obstacle courses that you must go through to access applying to opportunities?
Growing up my parents taught me helping your fellow man is always profitable. They would
share our food with our neighbors.
My parents would share our clothes with other less fortunate families. Not that we were rich or
had a lot. But because my parents cared about people. They always felt that if you share
what you have God will always provide more.
I recall being a unit manager within a healthcare facility in North Carolina. Now to
some that was great. As a matter of fact many would say, why can’t you be be satisfied
with what you are doing?
My answer was because I was unfulfilled. I had this inner frustration that told me that
there was more inside of me?
I got tired of being asked on my job to serve on multiple boards & to share my ideas but when I
would apply for a better position that offered more money repeatedly being told no.
I began to notice a pattern of never having enough. I recall putting gas in my car to go to work.
The embarrassment & frustration of this event and similar events developed a desire in
me to seek out solutions to better way of life.
I became relentless. I got tired of settling for what appeared to be good but unfullfilling.
It is when my vision and desire motivated me to aim higher, research options, that my
outcome began to change. It is when I realized that my life is determined by the
actions choices you make today.
As a result through life experiences, upbringing, personal triumphs and
failures assisted in developing my personal truths.I have worked with many organizations various different levels within the community, state and government. I have exceeded what I envisioned what I saw possible then. Now it is up to you to write your story to determine what is possible.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
There are principles that are applicable to all. But everyone’s process to progress is different. Some contributing factor’s to the above mentioned are because:
Everyone is not connected to the same people
Not everyone’s budget is the same
Not everyone support system is the same
Everyone geographical location is not the same. Different geographical locations are known for certain things and support &/or resist certain things
Not everyone’s gifting, abilities and temperance is the same.
Thus ,you can mimic those whom you admire but it will not guarantee the same results.
