We recently connected with Shauna Jackson and have shared our conversation below.
Shauna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
Virtual Assisting is trending in the world of entrepreneurship. Successful business owners are realizing that in order to scale their business they must hire help. Tasks like answering emails, ordering inventory and posting on social media can now be done by hiring a virtual assistant. There is no need to provide our equipment or offer health benefits-we literally have everything we need to begin servicing our clients.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I am the owner of Girl Talks Finance, Virtual Assisting Services LLC. I assist powerful women professionals scale their business by offering virtual support. I got into this industry by accident. My best friend who owns a successful hair braiding business in Prairieville, Louisiana asked if I could handle a few admin tasks for her. Quickly I fell in love with assisting and seeing the positive growth in her business. From there we began implementing systems and gaining more clients and the rest was history.
What sets me apart is my passion to “support” my clients. Being a entrepreneur is not easy but in my business if my clients want to grab a coffee and just vent, I provide that space for them.
I am so proud that I have built a business that does not feel like work. Serving is my passion.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I was working a demanding 9-5 corporate job as a loan officer. In order to balance my job and run a successful virtual business, I had to find strategic ways to maintain both. I discovered “CRMs” which stand for client relationship managers. This was a game changer. I was able to send contracts, invoices, and emails automatically all without having to lift a finger
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Word of Mouth. I know it sounds cliche but it has worked for me. I send surveys out to my clients to rate my services. I use the information from the survey to create testimonials which I post on my social media platforms.
