We recently connected with Shaun Lawrence and have shared our conversation below.
Shaun, appreciate you joining us today. When you were first starting out, did you join a firm or start your own?
I decided to join Coldwell Banker—CK Select a Real Estate firm in North Carolina. I had the chance to learn about them during my real estate prelicensing class, I had the opportunity to meet Cindy Hanson, the firm’s Broker in Charge She told us about the amazing benefits they have to offer their agent, and it was too nice of a chance to pass up. Having been here for the last few months, I believe that my decision was the best one for me. They have a very flexible schedule and a great support system in the office. As someone currently in college at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the firm that allows me to be a full-time student while still being a real estate agent. Something many other firms couldn’t offer me.
Shaun, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an 18-year-old real estate agent who had the opportunity to take the class at my high school “Early College High School”. The community college I attended during high school Rowan Cabarrus Community College had a prelicensing class. I took the class during my senior year of high school and passed it on my 1st attempt. I always wanted to get into real estate because I believe that being in the process of helping someone find a home is an extraordinary moment that I would love to be a part of. I’ve always been interested in looking at properties and wondering how much they may sell for. Being a real estate agent allows me to see how much a property can truly cost. Being so young in the field I have the advantage of understanding social media and its power when used correctly. I can find clients by posting videos on Instagram and TikTok which allowed me to build my brand worldwide. I want people to know that I am here for them, and their needs. As a real estate agent that cares for the clients I have made it my mission to ensure whoever works with me feels 100% satisfied for the decision they make.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I would say social media is one of the best sources for finding new clients. When people see videos that you post about what a property holds and being an agent it allows them to get a glimpse into who you are, and what you have to offer them. Being able to send a direct message to me through social media makes things a lot easier too, It allows people to find me and my information very quickly. Also, giving them a chance to see who I am as a person and if they would want to work with me, I believe that it also reaches people a lot quicker than cold calling would.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think my personality has helped build my reputation within the market of real estate. A lot of people do not trust real estate agents because they seem shady. I have used my personality and beliefs to show that I am trustworthy to my clients. As I focus on the client’s needs coming first in any decision made for them, this thought process has allowed their guard to be lowered around me. Many of the clients I have worked with so far have known me already and knew how I acted previously, which made things a lot easier. Staying true to who I am has made the process of building trust a lot easier as well, which allows my reputation to stay strong.
